If you want to know if I, in that situation, would put my four year old in a backless booster occasionally, the answer is, no, absolutely not, I would never. It's not just about sitting properly; it's about skeletal strength and protection in a crash. Something catastrophic could happen, even on a short trip, even in someone else's car. I would find a 5 point harness that she fits in, that I find easy to install with a seatbelt, and I would use that. That's what *I* would do.
