have you all seen those new minivans (chrysler, i think) where the 2nd row of seats can turn to rear-face? in that situation which is better - a rear facing seat with a forward facing car seat or a rear facing seat with a rear facing carseat? i htink a rearfacing seat and a rear facing carseat is sort of like a front facing car seat. does this all make sense? what do you mamas think would be the best set up if you had the option to turn your actual seat rear facing?

you're not supposed to put carseats on rear facing seats.

I saw those too, but I didn't think the intent was to have them turned around while driving (at least that is not how I would use it). Since you could put a table between the 2nd and 3rd rows, so I would use it as a space to eat or whatever while stopped on a road trip, but not for actual driving. Maybe I'm wrong, and they can be turned while driving.

The car manual is quite specific about this, as is the carseat manual.

they are the 2008 swivel and go, dodge caravan and chrysler town and country. do not put a carseat in those seats if they are turned around.

(and yes, they are supposed to be used with the table while driving. although i don't see that as safe at all)
