I know that the infant seats have to be replaced after a car wreck.

How about if you were in a wreck, the car seats were in the car but you didn't have the kids? Do I still need to replace the seats? DH things I'm being crazy but I think we should

Help!

My understanding is that *Britax* seats that are unoccupied in a crash may not need to be replaced. I think all others do. Contact the manufacturer to be certain.

Yes, contact the manufacturer and explain what type of accident, etc... If they say yes, and insurance balks at the cost, ask them to issue a written statement to you authorizing that those seats are safe for further accidents.
