she's 3 1/2. says she wants to be an astronaut doctor. anyways, she comes up to me with her play doctor stethoscope and says, in ALL seriousness, "Time for your checkup! I need to make sure the baby is ok!" and she proceeds to put the stethoscope on my belly and says, "Hmm." I said, "What do you hear, doctor?" she said, "Nothing. My baby sister isn't talking yet."

Cute. My DD pretends she's pregnant all the time. She's given birth to dolls, blocks, blankets, all kinds of stuffed animals, etc. And then she nurses them.

my ds never pretended to give birth but he has tried to nurse a baby doll!!!

Ds1 is constantly asking how the baby in my belly is doing. He asks me to lift up my shirt so he can see if he/she has grown

My son knows about how we eat food, and it goes into our bellies, and then it turns into poop and comes out our butts.

So it really shouldn't have surprised me that he deduced that the baby "in my belly" would come out my butt, too!

Since then I've tried to be better about telling him it's in my uterus ;-). I haven't gotten around to where it comes out yet though... since he may be at the birth (his decision), I probably should do that sometime in the next 8 months or so.
