My midwife doesn't usually have appointments until 16 weeks unless you really want one before that. I don't even have an appointment made yet! She uses a fetoscope unless specificaly requested to use a doppler so can't really hear a heartbeat until later. I'm not worried about though-I'm pretty sure the babe is alive because it's making me sick. If this was my first time around I'd probably want to go in earlier.

I didn't know I was preg last time until I was 10 weeks along with DS. I think I'll be going in when I'm past my first trimester unless something happens. I don't even have a midwife or provider here yet as we just moved.

I'm having my first trimester Ultra Screen for downs syndrome done on the
20th. Has anyone else had this done?

Hello everyone! I'm joining up! I won't have an appointment until 12+ weeks. This is baby #4 for us, so I am pretty relaxed and trust my body in what it does best.

Ally~ I've never had the test, always declined it. Good luck!

I was offered it (I think it is newer, not offered when I had my other kids) but I declined it.

I'm still waiting to get my insurance straight, then I have to schedule a consult with my OB to get cleared for a VBAC with the midwife I want to use. Last time I didn't have my first appt. (with the midwife) until 11 weeks, so I'm assuming that will be when I have my first this time. I don't really want to go before we can hear the heartbeat anyway, that would just make me nervous. So hopefully by then we'll be able to pick it up!
