No joke. I really am. Pregnancy induced toilet paper allergies!!!!

I did a gluten elimination, and an egg one (hardly stuck to that one though), and got muscle tested for a bunch of other possible irritants. Nothing helped. I switched to cloth wipes because of all the tp we've been going through was not only getting $$$ but made me feel environmentally irresponsible.

Remember when I revealed my issues in the nether regions???

Yep. Well, if I use toilet paper (and I did yesterday ) I get a horrible reaction. Got so bad I almost couldn't walk for a week. If I use cloth wipes, I'm fine.

Problem solved. Going to cut up more wipes now.:

Cloth wipes are way nicer to use anyway! Glad you figured that out, but what a strange allergy. We've had lots of allergy issues going on at our house recently too...ds is now very allergic to papaya and I have a rash all over my hands from our dishsoap

no FREAKIN WAY!!

that is the strangest thing I've ever heard! Is it a perfume? a dye? or really just the wood fibers?

totally trippy.

so about these cloth wipes... Is it ...ewwy? I mean-baby poo is one thing, but adult poo is another thing entirely. What routine do you use for cleaning them? Where do you keep the dirties?

Wow, never heard of that one before.

But I love cloth wipes! They are so much more comfy on your bum

Oh man, that sounds awful. I'm so glad you got it figured out!

No, not ewwy at all. You can always ease into it by using regular toilet paper for BM's and cloth wipes for pee. If you go to the Natural Home and Body Care forum, there have been tons of threads about cloth TP/family cloth.

Toilet paper contains, among other things, cornstarch. Might want to check on more general reactions to that. (This I learned from a friend with a corn-allergic son.)

Yep, I had a corn sensitivity during my last pregnancy and I had no idea why my nether regions were so inflamed. When I ditched soap and lubricants (both contain corn derived ingredients), it went away.

I get reactions to the perfumes and dyes in TP. My husband was a printer and worked with a guy who used to work in a factory that did TP. He says that the ink that they use is absolute poison and there was no way in hell he'd put that on *his* butt.

My usually fairly mellow allergies, such as my lactose issues, have gone mad lately. Bummer how our bodies go into hyper-protective mode.
