She's doing great. It took her quite awhile to breathe and pink up, but it was ok, we did a lotus birth. I've got all the bases covered, an unattended home water lotus birth! rofl she had no interest in nursing at ALL until about 5 am. Every time I offered it she screamed and look at me like I was an insane person for interrupting her sleep. She came out asleep, started doing a kind of gasp every 30-40 seconds, started breathing, cried like a madwoman for about a minute, and then went back to sleep. She is her daddy's girl in that respect. Once she started nursing she did great, now she's sleeping, I can't because I'm starving! So I'm getting a little snack and then going to BED! Whoo what a day!

I've had very little bleeding, no tears at all. Once my body took over and started pushing, things went very fast. I was so worried I'd tear, I kept telling DH over and over, I don't want to tear, I don't want to tear, I had her head halfway out for a couple of contractions, and then I got the rest of it out, no tears. And then she just hung out for a good long while. The contractions stopped. She just sat there and I started rubbing her head asking her to hurry the @#$% up already. MAN I was so tired. after I rubbed her for awhile I realized she had a TON of hair. I leaned back and asked DH to get the video camera and get a good close up. Sure enough when she came out, she lots just like I did at birth, right down to the thick full head of black hair! She's of course a little swollen, and she looks oddly, Hispanic! Neither DH nor I are Hispanic in the least, but she looks like she is. . She's a little dark in the face, I think she got some slight bruising from hanging half in and half out for so long, but it's starting to fade. I think that's what does it.
anyway, I'm beat. I'm off to bed with my precious baby! My two guys are already snoozing away, waiting on us!

Wow! Congratulations!!! That is so awesome. I know you are enjoying her immensely.

By the way, my daughter was fairly dark skinned when she born and then it lightened up a few months later.

We've realized she only looks Hispanic because of the bruising. When DS came out he was RED! She's red, but a darker red than him. Her whole body and the lower half of her face look like a little pink white baby, but that bruise is what makes her look so Hispanic. When I can walk without feeling so swishy I'll write out a good birth story.

ETA: what can I use to keep her skin from cracking? She didn't have much vernix, I had to take some from her thigh creases to rub on her cracks what do you ladies recommend for that? We don't' have a health food store here anymore, so it's got to be something a little more mainstream. We do have a kick a$$ grocery store with a nice "natural living" section, I might be able to find it there.

All the creds for the pics go to pixiedust. She's totally awesome! There will be more soon, but she took about a million pictures and she's got her own life to attend to. I totally can't wait to see her work though.

yay! congratulations! ha - and you stinker, you are sooooo not the last of us to go

as for the cracked skin.... my skin really loves vitamin E oil. or do you have some lanolin cream or calendula already on-hand? maybe some real cocoa or shea butter? olive or coconut oil from the kitchen would work great too.

Get some Lansinoh lanolin ointment (the stuff that's just lanolin; not the stuff that has lanolin and a bunch of other ingredients) and use that. It works beautifully for all kinds of first-aid skin protection and healing. DH will use nothing else when his lips get chapped!

Oh, good thing I still have a ton of it from DS. I used some olive oil last night and that seemed to help. I'll use the lansinoh on the worst cracks and keep the oil for the dry skin.
