There are NO fresh fruits or veggies available at the store. I've been too lazy to make an order for the past few weeks, so I've been making do with frozen veggies... and my enhanced olfactory sense was picking up all kinds of freezer odors on my broccoli... so I just plain wasn't doing well in the vegetable departments.

So, on Tuesday afternoon, I put in my grocery order to the store in Bethel. Yesterday, my box arrived... bell peppers, avocados, tomatoes, grapefruit, apples, carrots, celery, plus other assorted non-produce items. All ridiculously expensive by Lower 48 standards, but sitting in my kitchen, waiting to be eaten. I felt like a queen. I didn't even know what to eat first.

DH made apple crisp last night, I made homemade salsa. For the first time in weeks, I didn't get nauseous at bedtime. I wonder if a whole bunch of my nausea was just me not being able to meet my body's (and my baby's). New pregnancy resolution: order veggies from Bethel every other week. Frozen is just not going to cut it.

The upside of pregnancy mood swings: just like little things can break your spirit, little things can just put you in a giddy, giggly mood.

Me+DH+DS1+DS2+Dog=me and a house full of guys, which is really just peachy, thanks.

Ok, I am interested now...what did you pay for the veggies since you said they were expensive.

I was reminded the other day, while steaming broccoli, my favorite veggie, that I didn't like it when pregnant with DD1 and not with dc2 either! It's too smelly for pregnancy.

Darn it... I JUST threw the receipt away yesterday when DH and I cleaned the kitchen (of course, we cooked today, so it's a disaster again). I only remember that avocados were $10 a pound. There's also a $25 shipping charge added on to the whole shebang (if it's under 50lbs; if it's over, you pay more). They pay us more up here, but the cost of living makes it about the same as a teaching job anywhere else.
