I can't remember because DS is 12 and that was a long time ago; when will we be able to hear the baby's heartbeat on the doppler? I will be 9 weeks at my first OB appointment on the 12th and I am hoping we will be able to hear it.

My doctor doesn't even try with the doctor until you are more than 12 weeks. Before then doppler doesn't pick up the heartbeat most of the time. Sometimes, but not a lot. For that reason they usually don't try because they don't want you to freak out.

You can see/hear it on ultrasound at that point, but usually not doppler.

Depends on how much "meat" you have on your abdomen. Most can't hear the heartbeat before 10 weeks. I know with my son, they did the vaginal ultrasound first so we could see the baby and the heart beating. When she tried the doppler we couldn't hear the heartbeat. But we did at the next appointment.

Well I'm afraid I have a decent amount of "meat" on my abdomen...so I probably won't be able to hear anything!

With DS, my OB wouldn't even try until at least 12 weeks. However, I also had a vag. u/s w/him at 10 weeks where we saw his little heart beating away. With DD, my first appt w/my MW was at 10 weeks and she said she'd try to find the hb w/the doppler but told me not to get my hopes up. However, her HB came through loud and clear at that appt!

Same here with DS, we first heard it at 10wks with the doppler.

I'll be 1 day short of 10wks at my first appointment so I'm really hoping we can hear it then
Amazing just how reassuring it is!

For me, sometimes 8 weeks, usually 10. I have never not found a baby heartbeat by 10 weeks, but sometimes it takes a while. I always prepare mama if she wannts to listen that soon.

I have a lot of abdomen going on. I'm ten weeks yesterday and I have an appointment today. I hope they will be able/willing to pick it up!
