I haven't been around our DDC for awhile b/c we have been dealing with an absolutely tragic loss.

One of my best friends from college passed away last week. She was 31 and perfectly healthy. She was the wife of her college sweetheart and mother to 19-month old twins, a girl and a boy.

She had no health issues. She was decorating for Christmas last Saturday afternoon, turned to her husband, said she wasn't feeling well, and collapsed to the floor, having a massive seizure and then cardiac arrest. Her husband tried to adminster CPR, but she slipped into a coma and never awoke. The doctors determined that there was no hope for a recovery, and her husband made the agonizing decisions to discontinue the machines that were keeping her alive.

My other three friends and I were able to get to the hospital mid-week and see her and spend time with her and say goodbye. The five of us girls were very close, and have been close ever since starting college. We were with her and her family in her final moments. It was very peaceful.

I cannot believe that my friend is gone. I cannot believe that her babies will never know her. I cannot believe that her husband is a widower at age 31.

Please pray for her family as they begin this new stage of their life. If you are interested in donating to the family fund for the husband and children, please PM me and I will send you the website.

I won't be on MDC for awhile - the wake and funeral are tomorrow and Tuesday. I will try to check back again mid-week.

I'm sorry for the sad news. I just need to keep talking about it to make it sink in that this actually did happen.

None as of yet. A few theories but nothing conclusive.

How utterly tragic. Mamas should never have to die while our babies need us so.

Thank you for sharing your loss with us. In some way, every time you speak of her, she lives on a little more in the minds and hearts of those who still walk this earth.

Do you live close to her family? The support you can possibly give her husband and children will be priceless.

Life is such a precious thing.

We went through this just last year, my friend was 35. It was an undiagnosed heart condition.

It is so hard and unfair when the children are so very young.

Breeder Mama: = wife to an amazing man + mama to J-Bear (07/02) and E-Train (06/08), nanny to Little Bird (07/10).
