I have been very happy with the book "The Well Trained Mind" A guide to a classical education.

It spells everything out, and lays it all in order for you. My first year of homeschool went smoothly thanks to this book.

We've been loosely following the guidelines outlined in The Well Trained Mind since 2005. It's a meaty, comprehensive guide to homeschooling. I highly recommend adapting it to fit your child, rather than trying to fit your family into the schedule in the book.

We also use her books, Story of the World for history. Our kids just finished the 4th year of SOTW and are starting back at the beginning with "Ancient Times" now.

I loosely follow TWTM and the LCC, we do SOTW, too.
