Hi! Wanted to introduce myself ~ although I'll probably lurk a lot more than post - but who knows.
I'm Janel. I'm pg with my fourth - I have 3 girls - 9,7, and 3 and a great husband. He's been unusually patient with me lately. All of my kids have been big surprises but this baby surprised me the most. Seriously, this is one of those 4% birth control failure rates of the diaphram and spermicide. The other 3 I could tell you the mistakes we made - this time we used bc consistently. Happy ab being pg nonetheless.
I have worked with birthing and bfing mothers for over 7 years - as a doula, homebirth and birthcenter assistant, taught HypnoBirthing, was a bfing educator and peer counselor ~ now I'm simply a labor and birth nurse ~ who won't be using the services of the hospital. I birthed my first 2 babies at the hospital with midwives - the last baby I had a home waterbirth - plan on doing the same this time. None of my coworkers say anything negative ab my birthing plans (at least to my face). I do answer a lot of questions - which I'm happy to do. Homebirth is a very foreign concept to everyone there - all the fear!
I am also training for my 2nd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do - my promotion is Dec 8th (I'll be 12.5 wks). Obviously, I'll be listening to my body and if I can't promote, I won't, but for the time being, I'm still planning on it. It's a big achievement for me on many levels - and one I've been looking forward to for 2 years.
