So a lot of people responded to my last thread about how much weight you've gained thus far. For those of you who have had previous pregnancies, how much TOTAL weight did you gain when all was said and done?

With my son I gained 43 lbs.

#1 went from 120 to 156 = 36 lbs.

#2 went from 130 to maybe 170 = 40 lbs.

#3 went from 140 to 156 = 16 lbs.

#4 at 140 looking at 144-145 right now.

I learned my lesson with #2. I just let it all hang out. With #3 I took really good care of myself eating and exercising. I think 155 is a good mark for me. My average weight is usually 120-125.

#1 about 40-50 pounds ( I stopped looking at the scale)
#2 20 pounds

I hope to gain around 20 pounds again this time. It still took me a good 9 months to lose the last 10 pounds anyway:

With my first pregnancy I gained at least 50. I hadn't weighed myself in over a year when I got pregnant, so I wasn't really sure how much I gained in total.

With my second pregnancy, I got as far as 12 weeks before I stopped gaining and growing (I m/ced) and I had already gained almost 15 lbs!

This pregnancy I haven't gained more than 5 (I don't have a scale and I'm UCing so I haven't weighed myself) at the most and I'm 13 weeks tomorrow.

I eat much less and healthier now than I did with the other 2 so I suppose that has something to do with it.

Doula mama to artistic DD and monster DS. #3 on the way!

Right at 30 lbs. But he was born at 37 weeks. I'm sure in those three weeks I would have put on a lot more!!!

For my first, about 25lbs. But I'm a fluffy chickie, so the Dr's hoped I wouldn't gain too much. LOL I don't think I had any real control in the matter though....

I don't have a scale at home so I'm not sure how much I've gained so far. Not looking forward to finding out either.

I used to be 105 lbs, a size 2.

First one I gained 15 lbs
Second I gained 25 lbs
Third I gained (OMG) 40 lbs

Lost all of that and went to 120 lbs for weight

Fourth I gained 20 lbs, lost it then regained another 20 with the last one which makes me 140 lbs and a size 12.

I can squeeze my fat arse into a size 10 depending on the cut of the pants and fabric of the pants in question and can no longer wear hip huggers.

Oh well, I don't care I rather have my babies kwim?

I gained 80 lbs each for the first two pregnancies, then 40 lbs for the third pregnancy (I started out weighing a little more), I'm not weighing myself this time around. I don't need to obsess over my weight, I'll deal with it when the baby's born.

:

I have no idea how much weight I gained with DS, and I have no plans to weigh myself this time either. It saves me a ton of stress, and I know I enjoy my pregnancies better this way. I still know what my pants size it, so I'm not totally in the dark, but I don't need the stress that most of the pregnant moms I know seem to go through over that little number. I eat well and excercise; my body will gain the amount of weight that is right for me.

With #1 I was underweight, and kept losing weight until FINALLY about 20 weeks in I started gaining. And then it seems like it would never stop. I ended up gaining 50 lbs after losing 10 and already being underweight by about 10. With #2 I gained about 35. And with #3 I gained MAYBE 20. I haven't gained any with the one. I think I've lost one or two. But that's normal for me right now. Give me another 5 - 6 weeks and I'll be gaining weight in a hurry.

#1 I gained 45 lbs total. I started at 130, which is about 5-6 lbs under what I probably should have been at the time (I was competing in triathlons that summer so I was in good shape and had very little body fat - I actually intentionally was trying to gain weight to get my cycles back at the time I got preg.) My son was 7#10.

#2 (this one) - I started at 130 again (but with more fat and less muscle) and I've gained about 4 lbs so far (13 weeks) due to more m/s than I had last time.

I gained about 30 lbs, I think. I'm not positive what my weight was before we conceived. This was a healthy gain for my size but I looked HUGE. Despite more than one ultrasound everyone was convinced there were two babies in there. It was just one - a nice healthy 9.5 lber mind you, but just the one.

#1 - 42 lbs. (I lost over half within 2 weeks, the rest came off by 4 months.)

#2 - 49 lbs. (I was starving hungry all the time with him. He was born at 37 weeks. I lost 20 the day he was born. Lost the rest by 6 months.)

#3 - 35 lbs. (Not nearly as hungry this time. I lost 17 the day he was born, and the majority of the rest by 6 months, but couldn't shake those last 5 pounds until about 12 months I think.)

So I gained and lost 126 pounds total in 3.5 years. Now I'm gaining again. 14 weeks and up 9 pounds I think. I'm hungrier with this one, much like my second. The good news is that I'm much more secure about my body image than I was back then. And I have 3 pregnancies behind me that show the weight will come off eventually. I'll probably have to work at little harder this time or wait a little longer, but I'm confident it'll come off again. I'm also hoping to be able to work out more this pregnancy -- just waiting for my 2nd trimester energy to kick in!!

Ok, do I win for the longest-winded answer??

I was undereating and over-exercising when I got preg with DS. I gained over 50lbs. I happily kept 10 of those pounds, but the 40+ others were gone by 6 mos PP and I never want to be as skinny as I was pre-preg again.

I weighed myself at the beginning and at the end of my preg with DS. I was not weighed in the middle. I did not see the point of making worry for myself.

I totally understand not wanting to be weighed because of the stress that many of us deal regarding it. That's a huge reason I'm not weighing myself this time around, not at all whatsoever. And consequently, I've gained far less this time than I did with my last 2!

I went from 110 pre-preggers to 165 - 8.9 lbs baby

I'm not really worried about the scale this time around, as long as my DH is all over me I figure I'm fine and I'll worry about being thin after I'm done worrying about birthing a healthy baby.

I gained over 70 lbs with my first. I was somewhere around 145 - 150 when I got pregnant. By her first birthday I was down to 123.

So far I have gained only 3 lbs this pregnancy. I am a lot smaller than I was this time with DD.

I gained 41 lbs with my first, but it all came off within 8 months after he was born. He was a tiny 6 lb 2 oz. I called it the "Constant BF and PPD Diet".

I'm hoping to only gain 25 tops with this second.

About 30-some pounds. Regardless of where I start, I always end up at 220-222. I lose some the first trimester, gain a some the second trimester, and gain more the third. I never really did the gorging thing other gals have talked about (a former coworker said she ate mashed potatoes and gravy for lunch every work day for those 9mo - she gained 70 pounds) - I just eat when I'm hungry and that's that - I also at least attempt to eat healthy food, mostly because the boys eat the same thing I do because I'm usually too lazy to make separate meals. So that *may* have helped with my moderate weight gains.

I also get really huge looking, too (I was 40w and measuring 44cm at that photo). I could knock over small children and dogs with my belly at full-term.
