Jude Everest (Tibetan/Buddhist thing)

Girl:
Jordana Isolde

Mind if I sneak in here?

I adore the name Jude Everest, and I actually like Joslyn Isolde...not sure if you'd want to mix them up like that, but I really love the combination.

Beautiful choices though, whatever you end up deciding will be wonderful!

I really like Jude Everest; I can't see the name River without thinking of River Phoenix. Everest I haven't seen as a name, and I like the imagery of it--stately, beautiful, solid.

I also like Joslyn Elorah. Elorah is such a pretty and musical name, and I don't know if I would pronounce Isolde correctly. I-sold, like I-sold-my-house-dot-com? Is-old-a? Is-old? It's the sort of name I would cringe at seeing, because I'd just know I'd screw it up when I tried to say it.

Isolde is pronounced ee-ZOLD or ee-ZOLD-uh. (I had to look it up, too, lol) It's a classic Welsh name from the famous medieval story/Arthurian legend Tristan and Isolde.

Eek, sorry, sorry, I knew I'd get the pronunciation wrong! The name is very pretty; I'd just be intimidated by it if I saw it on paper.

I hear ya! I've only ever read it myself--never actually heard it said aloud, hence my recently having to look up pronunciation. (like, yesterday, lol)

I love Jude and think Everest has a better flow with it.

And my vote is WAY for Joslyn. If you saw my name thread, you know I have a dislike of names that are boy names with an "a" on the end. Plus I LOVE Elorah. We had Alora on our girl list last time.

I love the name Isolde and pronounciation isn't daunting to me, probably because I speak French, but perhaps since you live in the states, you may be condemning your child to a lifetime of explaining to people how to pronounce her name right (a lot of ppl still hesitate on my name--maya, and I don't think it's that tough!).

And so, I vote for Jude Everest & Joslyn Elorah!

Not in your DDC, but saw this in New Posts, and I love baby names.

I adore Jordana Isolde, just beautiful. Jordana seems much less trendy to me than Joslyn. I also love Jude Everest.

I like Jude River and as for a girl, Isolde is on our list for first names. I just LOVE that name (but I'm familiar with Welsh names).

Jude E and Josyln Elorah

I love the name Isolde, too though.

But be prepared for constant mispronunciations. If you went with Isolde as a middle name I guess it wouldn't be a big deal. My dh didn't want to name a boy Asa b/c he said people would say "as - uh." Well, turned out to be a girl anyway - her name is Ilah which we both love but NO ONE can pronounce it!!It's just "I - luh." Just like it's spelled! Most of the time people literally say E-lee-uh or El - ee - uh. Where are these extra letters coming from? She's sees a lot of drs. so we get this ALL the time and I am so over it. I don't regret the name at all but is her name really that hard to pronounce??

I like either of the boy versions and my vote goes for Jordana for a girl. It's v. medieval sounding to me w/ a mystical flair. either of the girl middle names are lovely too. Elora is a town several hours away from here, which would eliminate it for me despite how pretty it is (love it w/ an h), but i like it! good luck picking when the LO gets here!

I like the J.E. names as well. Beautiful flow and ring. With our second, we couldn't settle on names, and then when we finally did, we realized that our initials would have been the same for the girl and the boy, and those seemed to fit, as if the baby wanted the initials

I can see how it's hard to pick - those are all lovely!

I think I like Jude River best, though, and I've always had a soft spot for Jordana So feminine.
