Wow, mama, that is one heck of a birth story! I am so impressed with how you've embraced it - it is a good lesson for me. I just love how she latched on during vaginal exams, that is wild! I hope you have the speediest healing possible. She is gorgeous. I love the picture of her with Kylah.

Tanya, Congratulations on a big beautiful baby girl!
What a birth story! I had a homebirth transfer at 10 cm and pushing too with my last VBAC-turned-cesarean attempt and I understand that agonizing pain of car laboring.... <shudder>
Definitely take it easy, so you don't get adhesions. Remember that you are recovering from surgery as well as sleep deprivation, labor, etc etc.
Check out ICAN's website if you need recovery tips. www.ican-online.org

WOW. not from your ddc but i just wanted to say congratulations on an amazing (if not what you planned) birth. i am so impressed with how composed you seemed, in the face of an extraordinarily hard birth. i had an emergency (very unplanned) c-section too, so i understand the pain of that unexpected event-- be kind to yourself mama and happy healing!

Congrats on your baby! I'm glad that you were able to transfer with such little fuss.

Are you sure your insurance wouldn't pay, or is that just the scare tactic the hospital folks used to keep you from checking out? After all, it seems like you signed AMA forms on a bunch of other stuff...and fully expect your insurance to still pay. I think it would just be useful to have a discussion on that so that anyone who reads this thread might be more aware of their rights if they run into something like this.

I'm not sure what the legality is on forcing care in order to get insurance coverage...after all, it would seem to be akin to an insurance company telling a smoker "if you get lung cancer, we aren't paying" or telling an overweight person "if you get Type II diabetes, high BP, or heart disease, we aren't paying" because the behaviors that led to the illnesses are obviously "AMA."

Yes, it's a scare tactic, but it's also true. My dh is a medical doctor and he uses this fact with his patients all of the time. So, yes, we were sure.
