I've been making banana almond smoothies almost every night during my pregnancy. I didn't realize until today that the vanilla extract that I use (I put in 2 teaspoons for each smoothie) has alcohol in it. It's the brand that I get from Costco...it says it's pure vanilla but it's in a base of water, alcohol (35%), and sugar. Do you think it's enough alcohol to do any sort of damage?
Yes it is safe; that is a truly insignificant amount, even if you have it every day. And pretty much all extracts consist of the flavouring in an alcohol base - alcohol is the cheapest and most stable substance for that purpose.
