i just went for my first ultrasound.
from my dates i assumed i would be about 8 or 9 weeks along.
she asked me if my dates could be wrong, and i said they could be off a bit, but i'm sure we conceived on nov. 27th (as that was the only time we dtd that month.)
she looked confused and said she would have to do a transvaginal ultrasound as she couldn't see the baby well enough.
then (of course) she was quiet the whole time, and i said "like how off are you thinking, like below 7 weeks?" and she just nodded yes.
well that would be impossible. there must be something wrong. the baby must not be growing.
i've had no bleeding, and my m/s and tiredness are pretty strong.
i just don't know what to think, having not had or heard of this before??
i hate so much how they don't tell you anything. it's my frigging body for g'ds sakes. i'm so mad right now.

Big hugs to you, I know how sad & frustrating the not knowing is. I had a similar experience in December where I thought I was about 6 weeks and there wasn't anything to see on the transvag u/s, so of course I was a mess. They sent me for betas and my numbers were really good, so it was that my dates were off as impossible as it seemed. What do they plan on doing next? A repeat u/s in a week or so? I know it seems impossible, but try and hang in there, I'm sure everything will be okay with baby

They should have told you something. That's not right.

I wonder how long sperm & egg can stay alive in your body... in other words, even if you dtd on the 27th, is it possible that actual conception didn't happen until later? (Okay, I looked it up. Sperm can live for up to a week inside your body. If you didn't ovulate for a week after the 27th, you could still have conceived.)

How did you leave it with them? Do you have an appointment to go back? Did you even get to talk to a doctor or midwife? Argh!

I am thinking about you, mama!

It is possible for sperm to live a looong time 5-7 days in the right conditions so a week off wouldnt be bad at all. Do you know when you will find out the results? That really sucks they wouldnt tell you anything Here they u/s tech will answer any and all questions so I never had to wait. I think it should be that way every were. Like you said it is your body you have a right to know right then.

Mama I am so sorry, that is really horrible not knowing. We're going through something similar and will find out tomorrow what is going on. Can you call your doc/mw to find out the results?

Oh geez. Nothing makes me madder than these u/s techs who don't tell you anything. Seriously I could go on and on about how emotionally devastating that is to a woman! Don't they get it?!?! Big hugs to you. Did they at least try to find a heartbeat? Were you able to see anything yourself or did they keep the monitor turned (I could smack them for doing that too!)?

Yes, not all babies grow at the same rate and I've heard of things like this where the baby turns out to be fine. Even if you are sure of your date of conception, yk? But I really wish they were being straightforward with you.

I really hope everything is ok and babe is just a little small or conception was later than previously thought. How scary to not know.

nov. 27th lets say sperm does live for a week...then you might have ovulated on the 4rth of December...so an adjusted last menstral period day of Nov 22nd...

or is it possible she means fetal age?

8 might be enough
