they disappeared about a week ago and haven't been back. I'm 9 weeks 3 days today. I had some pink spotting last Thurs, and some brown spotting on Fri but no cramps and the spotting seems to have stopped.

this is making me neurotic. I'm still early enough that hearing the heartbeat with doppler may not be possible, and I wasn't planning on getting an early u/s. my intuition tells me that the baby has stopped developing, but I don't know if I'm just having 'first timer' worries or if my intuition is actually working.

If it were me, I'd rethink the ultrasound. It may be the best way to put your mind at ease. My intuition about my own pregnancies has almost always been incorrect and an u/s will be fairly definitive.

Sending good vibes your way.

I was actually going to say the ultrasound seems smart too. I assume you're worried it could hurt the baby? If so, the stress hormones you have sure can't be good for baby either. Ultrasound might calm you down - that'd be good for both of you.

Praying for you and your lo.

You being stressed is much more likely to hurt a fetus then the short ultrasound they need to do to make sure it is developing okay.

I will tell you that with my first pregnancy I had zero symptoms, absolutely none, didn't even know I was pregnant until I was 12 weeks and I am not even sure why I took a test at that point (no I never pay attention to my periods so it wasn't obvious that I had missed three in a row).

Anyway, not feeling nauseous is absolutely not a sign that something is wrong. Did the spotting happen after sex by any chance?

well, I don't want to do u/s with out a medical indication, I was thinking of avoiding doppler as well because it is u/s too. Frankly, I have a biology minor in college, I've seen what ultrasound waves can do and the potential changes at the subcellular level do worry me to an extent. I still need to call my mw and ask her about the spotting, but was waiting because it was the weekend (it was not an emergency). If she suggests an u/s then I'm not opposed, I was just not planning on a routine early u/s for dating purposes or fetal testing.

I'm also having some insurance company issues right now, and am trying to get them worked out. I'm working on getting an exception so my mw will be covered at in network rates. The problem I have is I can't see her until I get the exception : I hope I'm able to get it taken care of for good today, and I can have an appt later this week.

In the dr. sears book I like how he just says "don't worry worrying is bad for you!" gee that's helpful.

nope, it didn't happen after sex. I wouldn't be bothered if I had no symptoms all along, but they were fairly consistent and then just *poof*

this is ironic. I know logically that symptoms often just disappear, they usually go away around 12ish weeks. I'm in nursing school, I've got all this book knowledge, but emotionally? I've got nothing

I would see if there is a prolife clinic around your area. They very often have free U/S and you could check things out without paying anything.

My symptoms pretty much disappeared around 9 or 10 weeks, and everything is fine. I know it's hard, but try not to worry. I hope you're puking your guts out soon to relieve your worries!

It takes a long time for your hormones to decrease and they usually won't until after you have expelled the fetal material.

Sorry you are feeling this stress. I think we are close in due date to each other and my sx let up this weekend, too. Not gone, but not as bad as they have been. I've been sitting on my hands to stop from calling the dr to try to use a doppler.

Hope everything is okay with your baby!

I'm Deborah, mama to Aidan, 11/02, Sean, 9/04 (my T21 SuperBoy), and Eleanor, 8/08.

Based on my personal experiences, I'd go get the ultrasound.

thanks everyone. I've meditated on it and am at peace with not having an u/s immediately. having an u/s won't change the outcome of the pregnancy and I'm ok with not knowing right now. Hopefully at my next appointment we'll be able to hear a heartbeat, and if not then I'm sure I'll go for an u/s. Feeling bad was the only thing that reminded me I'm pg - I still can't feel my uterus but that's probably because it hasn't popped forward yet (it's retroverted which makes it harder to feel, and also harder to hear FHT in the beginning), and when the yucky feeling was gone it worried me.

sometimes my brain grabs a hold of a worry and just takes off with it. Once I get my head back into a good space it's generally ok. I'm feeling a lot better about the situation now.

MySunflowerBoys, it's reassuring to me that your symptoms have also let up.

Just trying to reassure you!

My symptoms pretty much disappeared around 9.5 weeks. Not everyone has MS until week 12.

Like you said, having the us won't change anything that could be happening anyway. As long as you aren't having heavy bleeding I would just relax and enjoy the fact that you don't feel sick.

Hoping for the best for you!

I'm glad you're at peace with waiting until your next appointment, may it be one where you hear the little one!

so.. I started spotting dark brown blood and there was more of it than I expected. I called the mw and I'm going to go in tomorrow morning. she'll try to hear the HB with doppler, check my hcg levels, and/or send me for an u/s.

I haven't spotted any more since the big gob earlier. I don't think I'm cramping. my back is killing me, but I did some laundry today and that always hurts my back.

I feel like my intuition is right, I will be surprised if everything turns out ok.

just got back from the mw. she tried to find the hb w/doppler and of course it was not there. that combined with everything else that's happening has led us to believe this is infact a m/c. she drew some blood and said she should have the results tomorrow. if the hcg levels are very low I won't have to go back in for another draw. I have two big hematomas from the blood draw! YEOWCH

I've started having some cramps, but haven't really started bleeding yet.

so I guess this is it. I'm not totally out yet, but it's looking like that's how things are going to go.

I'm supposed to go to a chemistry lab in half an hour and I just don't think I can manage. I'm sure my grade will suffer but at this point.. I just don't think I can handle standing at a bench
