hi there,

haven't posted here for a long time (computer died, and vacation). Just got the news back from the biopsy that I have Hodgkins.

I'm 29 wks pregnant, and have a 21 month old beautiful daughter. We are new to this city, and my family is a 5 hour plane ride away.

devastating.

could you please pm me any supportive/insightful links/websites.

thank you,
charlene

I don't know anything about the illness. I hope that you can find good treatment though.

Mom of a 7 yr old, 4 yr old, and 1 yr old. Wow. How did that happen?

Oh mama. I am so sorry.

That is such a scary thing. How long does your Dr. think you can wait to start treatments? Have you seen an oncologist yet?

Hodgkin's has a very good rate of being cured if caught early, but other than that I do not know a whole lot about it.

I hope you are able to find some great information that gives you what you need to know.
I will be thinking of you.
(not in this DDC, but I lurk here cause I am due at the end of July and could be an Aug mama)

Charlene, I am so sorry to hear your bad news! I don't know anything about fighting it while pregnant. I hope your doctors can give you hope! Is there a possibility of you and your daughter living with your parents while you go thru treatment? Or maybe one of your parents moving in with you (if they are retired). I think you will need emotional support and physical help with your daughter and getting to appts.

Again, I am just so sorry. Please keep us updated with your doctors plan of treatment. I will keep you in my prayers.

I'm Deborah, mama to Aidan, 11/02, Sean, 9/04 (my T21 SuperBoy), and Eleanor, 8/08.

I am so sorry to hear this. What are your options for treatment, timing, etc.? I'm sorry I don't know more about the illness/or have info to pass on. I do know two people that have had this, and have been healthy/in remission for 5 plus years. I know the success rate is very high.
I'll be thinking of you and sending healing vibes though.

First, to you. This is tough, but now that you know what it is you, your family, and doctors can start making a plan. I have dealt with a cancer quite a bit in my immediate family, and I have found the National Cancer Institute to be a great source of up-to-date, very reliable information. Here is the link to their front page for Hodgkins: http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/t...gkinslymphoma/

Here is a link w/ basic info on managment/treatment while pregnant:
http://lymphoma.about.com/od/hodgkin.../pregnancy.htm

Peace to you as you and your family work through this. Please continue to update us.

Charlene, I am so sorry you're going through this. I don't know much about Hodgkin's beyond the fact that it can be highly treatable and that treatment seems to be possible during pregnancy.

You can do it, mama.

Wow - I am so sorry that this was the diagnosis. I have been thinking about you and wondering.
I do not know anything about the disease, so I am unable to help you with information.
Hugs and strength to you and your family.

I'm a surgeon, and it's a common saying in medicine that - if you could choose the type of cancer you'd get, you should choose lymphoma. Because it IS so often completely curable.

I don't know what the ramifications for your pregnancy are, however.

Stay strong, mama. Do what you need to do to be there for your sweet daughter, dear.

I cannot begin to imagine how devastating this is for you. You will be fine if you don't get treatment for a few weeks and your baby will be fine if born in a few weeks. You will get through this, you can do it, and I expect to see a posts from you next year celebrating being 1 year cancer free and also celebrating your baby's first birthday.

If it won't offend you, I will pray for you.

as a PP mentioned, hodgkin's lymphoma has a great recovery rate overall. i know a number of people who have come through treatment beatuifully.

i hope that you find a good care provider who can help you navigate the decisions of taking care of your coming child as well as your own health, and providing effective treatment when the time is right.

good luck with everything and keep your chin up. this form of lymphoma has a lot of treatment options and a very good success rate!

I am so glad you posted --- I was following your threads in march when you were talking about going for testing.

I will be praying for you for strength and healing.

I am sure that many moms on MDC would help you out if you need it - you just have to ask

Charlene, I'm so sorry you received such devastating news I would like to pray for you & your family also. I hope that you can delay treatment until baby is full term. It is reassuring to hear that Hodgkins treatment is so effective. If you need anything at all, please PM me and I'll do whatever I can. Sending you lots of healthy & healing vibes

Thank you all for your kind words and prayers.

We have an appointment on Friday with the doctor who will give us the nitty-gritty details of what we're dealing with.

...now that I know I have hodgkins, I want to get the process started asap!

I'm concerned that I won't be able/allowed to nurse this little one because of treatments...one thing at a time I suppose

I'll keep you all update.

please keep us in your prayers,
Charlene
