Silly question but I'm curious. I'm 33.5 weeks - I usually tell people how many weeks I am or I say that I have seven weeks left or whatever it is.

I know that there are two different ways to count months - one way there are actually ten months of pregnancy but that's not really accurate since there are really 4.5 weeks in a month.

And if I conceived the first week of Nov I count that I'm really only 7 months now.

So when do you say you're eight months? When you have four weeks left?

I'd say at about 35.5 weeks you're fully 8 months pregnant and in your ninth month. You're in your eight month now. I'm not sure how it goes officially though. But that would be my guess.

I'm pretty general about it, so I count 32-36 weeks as 8 months along

i have no clue how these things are counted. i assume that the 8th month starts at 32 weeks and ends at 33 weeks, and that the 9th month starts at 36 weeks and ends at 40 weeks.

I was just going to post that.

It's interesting how we're all "due" in August, but there are still differences.

Thanks for the link! I've been telling everyone I'm 7 months pregnant, but when I look at this I'm really 8 months along. I feel like I've accomplished so much more now!

I am one of those "crazy" women who thinks pregnancy is actually ten months long.

Well, it is for me anyway!

Well, this is my 3rd pregnancy and I've never been 9 months pregnant before. I think I'd probably just tell people 7 months right now.

Mom of a 7 yr old, 4 yr old, and 1 yr old. Wow. How did that happen?

I'm 29weeks 6 days today (edd is 8/24), and I consider myself in month 7, so 6.5 months-ish. At the end of the month, I'll say I am 7 full months, starting on month 8 if that makes any sense

I thought this was interesting:
Quote:
Lunar Months - A lunar month is the time between two successive new moons or full moons. Lunar months approximate the mean length of approximately 29.53059 days (29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes and 3 seconds).
280 days is approximately nine and half lunar months, since a lunar month is approximately 29.53 days long. When people claim that a pregnancy is exactly 10 lunar months, they are making the mistake of calculating a lunar month to be 28 days long.

If you know when you conceived its easier to count calendar months - beginning of Nov means a baby at the beginning of August... 9 months later.

I think that all months (except Feb?) actually have more than four weeks - if they were exactly four weeks then pregnancy would last for ten months (40 weeks would mean ten months) but since a month is 4.5 weeks it doesn't work out that way.

I have days when it feels like it lasts more like 27 months though...

I've found that for general inquiries going by the # of weeks just confuses most people. My due date is August 31st so I've just started counting back from there. (June 1st was 6mos, July 1st will be 7 mos etc) It's not the most accurate but it satisfies the inquiries.

I tend to think that people are really asking how much longer until you are really super duper pregnant(or until your due date), not how many 30-31 day spans, precisely, have you endured. I also think people generally think "term" is 9 months pregnant- 37 weeks. I'd also agree that people think of the months broken up in trimesters- 1-3 in 1st, 4-6 in 2nd, 7-9 in 3rd. So I say I am 8 months pregnant from about 32.5-37 weeks, and at 37, switch to 9.

It's not precise, but I don't think people are really looking for precise measurements when they ask you.
