How about:

James
John
Owen

I like the one syllable classic name after a more original name like Dexter, but that's just me...

Dexter is v. cute.

Crashing from July...

I, too, like James. Dexter James Pena has a nice ring to it.

I thought of James before I opened the post! EVERYONE said James. Just seems like the obvious choice I guess!!!

Good luck!

Hmm, this may be a long shot because I like rare names, but how about Dexter Montgomery Pena?

or

Dexter Mackenzie Pena

and yes, I crashed your DDC! LOL... I'm from Dec, and I didn't notice this was from a DDC until after I posted.

Are there any first names of family member you could honor by using the first name as your sons middle name? Maybe a great grandparent, or uncle that is no longer with you.

I think we are going to do this if with our child.
