Rowan was born today at 1.30 after an awesome and awesomely intense 3 hour labour at home!
It was everything I could have hoped for-lots of support, quick and intense, but no tears and i fell pretty great!
more details tomorrow, but for now i'm going to go enjoy my BOY! :
My friend came over and did acupuncture on Saturday, and coupled with the full moon he finally decided to come out and meet us on sunday. i woke up and just as i a was finishing breakfast, i felt a contraction. we decided to time them for a bit and they were short and not super intense, but very frequent-every 4 minutes or so. we called the mw bc of this and b/c i'd lost more of my plug, so we wanted to let her know that by that night, i'd probably be in labour. she came by around 10.30 am and checked me-totally effaced and 3 cm. we went ahead with a stretch and sweep, and things picked up. my water broke around 12.30 and things got super intense. up til then i was still pretty jokey and aware, but i wanted to get in the tub. we almost didn't make it-mw thought it might be too early, but i was only in for about 5 minutes before i w1as feeling the urge to push. we made it back to our bedroom and it was super intense-i could feel the pressure already, and preparations were being made for baby. 2nd mw barely arrived in time-i pushed for about 5 contractions and out he came. he's huge compared to e-a full pound heavier and 2" longer, but looks a lot like her.
i am so happy with our decision to birth at home-it was so great being in our own space and i had the same empowering incredible birth feelings as i diid with my first. so rad. i am so in awe of my our bodies can do!
we've just been chilling and taking advantage of MIL who's been watching our 3 year old and being the invisible cleaning and laundry fairy.
rowan is awesome. he's so rad and i can't believe i wasn't sure about being ready! it's so great seeing our dd with him-she's so stoked and although we have to keep an eye on her, she's just as in love as we are. i can't wait to see how they grow up together!
Sounds like a beautiful birth!
