Now that most of us are postpartum, I would like to ask how long you waited before resuming DTD? If you want to post more than an answer to the poll, answer these questions:

Did you tear during labor?
How did you feel physically after the the 1st time DTD?
emotionally?
Do you think you should have waited longer?

Add more if you feel so inclined.

Still waiting, ds is only 12 days old so... still feelin' kinda weird down there. I didn't tear, so soon I hope!!!

I'm trying to be patient because last time we tried to dtd at two weeks and it felt really odd and a little painful, dh felt horrible even tho it was my idea, and I was crying... not a good scene. We tried again at 4 weeks and it was great, so we'll see how long I can hold out!

I am not crunchy enough for this forum. Everyday I get a little crunchier though! :

5 weeks tomorrow, and we're still waiting. I had a pretty significant 2nd degree tear, and I still have some stitches down there that haven't come out yet. I'm finally starting to feel a little more normal down there (like, it's not so painful to sit anymore), but I think it will be at least a couple more weeks before I'm brave enough to try anything.

We waited 3 weeks. I didn't have any tears that needed stitching, and I felt "normal" after a week (my bleeding only lasted a few days) but it was impossible to find the time!

There was no pain but it def. felt different than pre-baby sex. I didn't expect it to be so different.

Also, it must be hormones but there was significant dryness. Not cool!

Emotionally... well all of my emotion has been pretty much invested in the baby so far. I'm somewhat ambivalent towards my sexuality right now.

Had 2nd degree tear - I'm 4 weeks PP and still sore. Going to doc tomorrow to have her check and see if it all looks normal.

Can't even imagine DTD but emotionally it worries me. I wonder when I'll ever feel normal again.

2nd degree tear about an inch long.

I've been considering dtd since 2 weeks (3 weeks is 2 days from now), but I've still got bleeding and am nervous about dryness.

I don't want to wish I'd waited, y'know?

Yes, a big ole 3rd degree tear, lots of stitches. damn forceps.

How did you feel physically after the the 1st time DTD?
it majorly hurt, so much we had to stop before finishing.

It was disappointing to have so much desire, but be unable to fulfill it.

Do you think you should have waited longer?
Not really, although we will wait a while longer before trying again

4 weeks now. no tearing, but have a little light bleeding when i workout too hard or do too much. have zero desire. i'm exhausted and tandem bfing already makes my body feel colonized. dh made the mistake of touching my breast yesterday and i almost smacked his hand before i caught myself : he felt me tense up tho. i'll probably do a "fake it 'til i make it" in a couple of weeks-dtd even tho i don't feel like it. it's what i've always done before. dh is aware i'm not in the mood but i'll do it anyway. he's okay with that. i'll get back in the swing eventually and practicing will help get me there. gotta do it to get pg again next year anyway may as well get in the habit starting in a few weeks

I was about 6 wks PP when I saw this thread and realized we hadn't dtd yet. I thought OMG, has it really been that long? I ended up finding some time for dh later that night. I didn't tear at all, and it was not the least bit uncomfortable. It was quite a relief, actually.

Okay that was weird. Why would it hurt on the side away from the tear??

I think it was about late 3 weeks? I can't really remember it seems so long ago.

I didn't have any tearing.

Just a little soreness but nothing bad and it didn't last very long.

I felt great about it. It was very nice.

Nope, I think we were ready. I find it hard to "keep it up" though with a toddler and infant. We can't get them both to bed before I am exhausted and then it is hard to find a space without worrying about the baby.

Babyboy turned 11 weeks old today and our DTD has decreased. We're lucky if we even do it once a week now. We were just screwing like rabbits now we're lucky if we can. He has impeccable timing, that child of mine. He knows just when daddy has rolled over to start crying in his crib, want to be picked up and played with. I swear he does it on purpose. LOL. Oh, how I miss being spooned. What was once my cuddle time has turned into family cuddle time. Geez! LOL

We waited for five weeks.

I had a small tear that heals really fast, but I had been bleeding for a couple weeks. I wanted everything down there to feel normal again before we started DTD.
Our first time, it hurt. And I really wasn't into it, because the baby was sleeping in the crib attached to the side of the bed, so I couldn't concentrate on DH. Every sound or movement that Sara made would distract me, so foreplay was pretty pointless. Emotionally, I felt okay. I honestly felt like, "Oh, I don't ever want to do that again if it's going to be like that."

The second time was similar. I was just doing it because I knew that DH really wanted to (I normally want to, but I have to be in the right mood). He was really sweet and really tried to get me into it, but it just wasn't happening for me. And damn did it hurt after - I think it hurt worse than when I lost my virginity:

This last time was different. Sara was sleeping in her cradle in the other room, DH really courted me the entire day with kisses and little massages and all the stuff he does on "special occasions". So by the evening, I was in a great mood. Foreplay took forever, and I didn't hurt at all afterwards. I'm hoping that our sex life will get even better once Sara can go to Grandma's for an evening, so I don't have to worry at all about being interrupted...

Hope eveyone else has a better go of it than me...
