Today I felt 3 thumps in my lower right abdomen. I'm thinking maybe it was the baby? I'm 11 weeks today, this is my 2nd baby. At first it felt like hiccups from the baby, which I am not sure if you can feel this early. But it was thump..thump..thump and then that was all.

Wish I could remember what the first baby movements felt like before!

Hiccups aren't physiologically possible until....23 or 28 weeks, so I'd guess it was movement. I've been feeling some twinges and wondering about them, too.

I felt the same thing last night, also 11 weeks. I'm pretty sure it was movement. I think the baby is too small to feel hiccups, unless it kicked and hiccupped at the same time.

I felt it at 11 weeks on my last pregnancy. Then I didn't feel anymore movement for a week.

Most likely gas bubbles because at 11 weeks the most you'd feel are little bitty flutters like a butterfly in your hand would feel. The baby isn't big enough to make bumping feelings yet.

That's how early movement has felt for me too...the little thumps (mini kicks). I *think* I've been feeling the flutter movement a little bit lately but mostly it's been the thumps. I'm 15 weeks now and have been feeling movement since 9 weeks. I also only get gas on rare occasions so I know it's not that for me

I felt something similar yesterday. I was lying on my stomach with my hand down where the baby would be. And from the inside I swear I felt this swish bump feeling.

Not that I consider baby center to be an authority - but my 11 week e-mail said that babies start hiccuping now
Quote:
You won't feel your baby's acrobatics for another month or two — nor will you notice the hiccupping that may be happening now that her diaphragm is forming.
And with my DD we SAW and FELT her hiccuping on my 20 week U/S. It was so neat to watch her hiccup and feel it at the same time.

ETA: Here's an article from BBC that says that they start hiccupping at 2 months.

Mama to two wonderful DDs (10/06 and 09/08) and expecting a DS 1/1/11!

What I felt was definitely completely different from gas. It wasn't gas bubbles or gas swiching feeling. It definitely felt like little thumps. I am also very thin so may be better able to feel some movements.

Not sure what else it could have been if it wasn't the baby.
