would you name your son Jack??

We are having a real hard time with boy names, and the only one DH & I REALLY like is Jack. I like it, but I just wanted other opinions...

Thanks!

I don't think I could do it personally. I did know a guy named Walker Walker after his mom remarried, that was kinda cool.

Nope, I actually ruled out a name I like for the same reason. It took a while to find a name we both liked but now we are in love with it!

No, I wouldn't. You could name him John and call him Jack as a nickname, that way he always has John to use for introductions. "Hi my name is John Jackson, but everyone calls me Jack."

Sorry, I wouldn't do it either. When I hear of people named like that, usually my first reaction is, "Why would their parents do that?" I'm sure you can think of a different name you both love just as much, or more.

No way. I know several people with names like that. John Johnson, Andrew Andrews. It's corny IMO and is just one more thing for the kids at school to poke fun at.

I might, but I have a weird fetish for people with 2 of the same name. Like Butros Butros-Gali or Sirhan Sirhan. I like it, I'm weird like that. I like the idea of just calling him Jack but giving him another name so he doesn't actually have to say his name is Jack Jackson. That's a good idea.

Peeking in from the October ddc!

My dad's name is something like Thomas Thompson, and he has never indicated that he regretted his name. I always thought it was kind of cool. He's always been a businessperson, and I think it might even have been an advantage to have such a catchy name.

Just my two cents!

See, i have never understood ppl who name their child one name and then call them something completely different. That is strange to me. For example- I have a cousin named Thomas, and they call him Buddy- and my dad is Michael and some of his family call him Chucky- and I have an uncle named Charlie and they call him Robbie- and my grandfather is George, but they call him Mickey??? I just dont get that. So, I cannot name him John and call him Jack- for me, it just does not make sence. Not that it is bad, just confuses me, and always has.

So...well, no one really likes Jack Jackson.
We are so stuck on names. I really like Levi, but it sounds too much like Eli- ds#1. I also like Waytt, but dh does not- and with Jackson as a last name, lots are out- and lots that are out I like- Jesse, Samuel....
Grrr...i just do not know.

go with samuel jackson! hehe You'll find the perfect name!!
AND I totally agree.. I never get when people name the kid one thing and always call them something else... ?? I'd rather just name the kid what I intend to call them, it's less confusing for me!!

I don't think all similar names are good one by any means. for example John Johnson does not appeal to me in the slightest.

but Jack is an awesome name, and Jackson is an awesome name. together I think it really rocks!

One of my high school friend's dad's name was Ralph Ralph. He changed it when he got older to Raulo (rawl-ewl), which I believe is Spanish for Ralph. I know that John/Jack in Gaelic is another form of Ian. Maybe looking in a different language for the equivelent of Jack might work for you...

not sure why this particular name issue is so compelling to me, but I could not fall asleep last night because I was thinking about it so much. ridiculous, yes, but I have to say again just how much I love the name Jack Jackson! I think it's one of the coolest names possible!

but, since so many people have been so negative about it, I'm guessing you will probably not go for it. which is a shame, because when it comes down to it I think you should do what sounds good to you and not worry about other opinions.

anyway, thought I'd throw out another possibility -- Zack Jackson!

our last name is Zasa -- if we have a boy we will name him Zackary, and I don't care how many people hate it!

keep us (or just me) posted -- can't wait to see what you decide to do...

Absolutely NOT! Unless his cousin is Bugs Bunny then Jack Jackson is really not a name I would choose for my child. Sorry.

IMO it would be a great name for a cartoon character or a porn star though!(although I think they make their names up later in life kind of as a stage name, don't they?)

Wow! Well, I really like the name, and personally have always thought it was pretty cool! We planned on naming him Jack Denton Jackson, but I had a very negative reation from a lady I work with, so I just wondered what you all thought. I do agree that some double names are pretty ridiculous, but I think that both Jack and Jackson are pretty cool. (I have to agree with lcaitlin) I figure that if he does not like to go by Jack, we can call him JD. No matter what name we choose, there will be people that either love it or hate it- that is what makes the world go round- the fact that people are different!

It could be a lot worse- I could be in love with the name Michael!! Now, that, to me is just a big NO!!
