(Warning: plenty of interventions ahead)
I'm very surprised to have had my baby this weekend. As a first timer, I assumed I'd go late. Instead I was 39 weeks.
I had a GBS+ culture which complicated things. My water ruptured before labor started. I went into the hospital despite my instinct telling me to hang out at home. Got the IV antibiotics started in the very early am of Sunday. A few hours later, early labor began but I was pressured into pitocin due to my GBS+ status. My water ruptured about midnight and it was around 10 am that we finally agreed to the pit.
Contractions became more regular and intense. Baby did amazing with the contractions! Around 6:30 pm, the contractions were just beating me down and I asked for an epidural after an internal - the first - revealed that I was 5-6 cms. I got some much needed rest since I hadn't really slept much since Friday night.
I was nearly complete around 10 pm but the midwife didn't come in to start pushing until 11:30. Either she did it on purpose so I'd deliver past midnight and have an extra day in the hospital or she was busy. Unfortunately I ended up with a sizeable tear.
