i am not happy with my body. i thought my tummy would be flat by week 6 but nooo i still look like i'm 5 months pregnant and i tried looking down there the other day and it looks so foreign to me. i wonder if it'll ever go back to how it used to look. i've been wearing maternity clothes and barely fit into a pair of maternity jeans i stopped wearing after 2nd trimester. i'm giving myself until 3 months to get rid of the tummy...i dont think dh is even attracted to me anymore.

ummm, am I the only one still wearing my maternity jeans?? I love the stretchy waistbands and was planning on wearing them for as long as needed pp until I read these posts about buying new clothes! no chance I'd fit into my pre-preg jeans. I'm 3 weeks + 3 days pp and feel like my belly looks at least 4 months preg still.

I am wearing them too. And thank goodness for them! They are really comfortable. Unfortunately I gained so much in my hips/thighs/butt, there is little chance of my fitting into anything pre-preg anytime soon. I can't even fit into 1st or 2nd trimester maternity jeans! lol

I'm going to give myself the rest of the week, eat my ice cream (and whatever other sugar I can get my hands on - hello Ghiardelli brownies!) and then start watching it. I am getting scared because I'm growing not shrinking and its all my own fault.

Heck no, I'm still wearing mine. I have not even *tried on* any pre-preg bottoms. I'm only 6 lbs over my pre-preg weight, but yeah, things are not the same at all!

Isn't it funny how you feel so skinny right after the birth and then as the weeks go by, you feel like you get chubbier? That's been my experience, at least.

give yourself time. after all, it took 10 months to get the baby in there. takes a while to get the weight off again.

awww, thanks. I'm just feeling sorry for myself so need to get out of this funk. I'm going to start doing some lunges while carrying my DD. Hopefully that'll get me off to shedding some weight.

That's me! But i'm still 9 sizes bigger than my pre-pregnancy size of a 7. Size 16 pants are not only too long, they are also waaay too baggy. The only place they fit is the waist. lol. It's kinda like wearing a sack. So, I won't be buying jeans any time soon.

My midwife told me not to expect to gain or lose any weight between 2 and 6 weeks PP. She said most women stay at the same weight during that time... some lose 5 pounds... and some gain 5 pounds. But she said that it's not the time to be expecting any major weight loss. So, I guess I have a ways to go yet.

Oh don't worry... he probably thinks you look fine. I've asked my DH a hundred times so far if he still thinks i'm attractive. When he says yes, I go "are you sure?" lol. You aren't the only one that feels unattractive right now! My stomach just kinda hangs in the front. It just feels like it will be that way forever. Oh, and my body is so scarred with stretch marks that i've been joking that I look like a zebra!

me too. i hate the size they are, but i hate maternity jeans even more.

i hate the way I look. my lower abs, hips, and butt are much bigger. i don't mind the stretch marks because i know they will fade, but the fat- oy the fat!! ugh.

i did weight watchers to lose the fat after DS. i got out my points tracker today and am going to start watching myself. i don't really want to go back to meetings, so hopefully just food journaling will get me looking semi like myself soon.

I have a Wii and recently purchased the Wii Fit game in hopes that will help shed some pregnancy and pre-pregnancy pounds until spring arrives and I can go to one of the local state parks and start hiking again. DH keeps telling me that I don't need to lose any weight, that I look fine right now, but I would like to lose about 15 pounds or so to get down to my ideal weight.

Exactly!! I felt like an instant skinny minny after the birth! Now... um, not so much

Actually, I *feel* thin, or at least as thin as my pre-preg self from what I can see naturally of my body, but then I catch a glimpse in the mirror and the reality is a different, chubbier story. I also feel like I look worse in clothes than I do naked these days, which is strange and not so great.

My baby is three weeks old today and I've lost 30 pounds so far. I have another 30+ to lose to get back down to my pre-pregnancy weight. I'm nursing so I eat a lot of carbs like sweet potatoes, brown and wild rice, oatmeal, apples, etc. I take her for long walks so I think that helps. I HATE the stretch marks on my belly! OMG! I so hope those go away somewhat - they're awful and I don't need a reminder I was pregnant - that's what my baby is for! HAHA! I do love my ankles not swelling anymore - big relief - as well as not getting up a million times to pee in the middle of the night!
Can't wait to start DTD but I'm still bleeding!

Hi Sept DD mamas ~
I'm finally back on line! DS2 was born 9/30, weighed 9pounds 6 ounces. I didn't 'gain' any weight during my pregnancy (morning sickness, etc), so I'm now 32 pounds lighter now then I was pre-pregnancy. My pre-pregnancy jeans fit much better! HOWEVER, I felt so great after my awesome homebirth that I did way to much too fast & ended up with a vaginal prolapse--Uterus, bladder & rectum all collapsing into my vaginal cavity (sorry if TMI). After a week of bedrest (& Sepia, inversions, etc), the uterine prolapse is much better, but the other problems still exist. So, a cautionary note to all you mamas ready to get back to exercising etc., take it slow & easy!

Needless to say, I feel pretty yucky about the way my insides feel, & the possibility of major lifestyle changes or surgery in my future. I'd take the weight over this problem anytime.

Loving mama to magical boys Skyler (11/21/03) and Gryffin Emrys (9/30/08).

I'm hoping to do the same thing, get a Wii for xmas and then get a Wii fit so I'm not spending the winter months totally on the couch.

This was my fifth preg and I feel like it's done my body right in (though I felt like that after the second preg lol). I haven't had a moment really to get a good look at the vajayjay yet lol. To keep from feeling too dismayed I've been admiring how much better my ankles look not swollen. :

I'm feeling pretty good about my pp body. I have stretchmarks galore but I don't really care about them so much. My stomach skin is a bit floppy but actually has less fat on it than it did before I got pg! I'm a size smaller than I was before pg and just feel and look skinnier. Same thing happened with DD too but I went and kept eating like a pig and piled all the weight back on. This time I'm not going to let that happen. I have my six week check next week and if given the all clear I'm going to start exercising again and doing sit ups to try to maintain this.

I feel overall pretty good, only 4 extra pounds left and I fit in my regular clothes. But I feel defective somehow, I'm 10 weeks postpartum and my tear scar still hurts like hell - TMI warning - if we try to DTD. I wonder if it will ever heal.

i feel pretty awful about myself these days. it took me a year and a half to lose the weight with my first son (eating healthy foods, yoga, walking, and muay thai kickboxing) and i just don't have the heart to do that again. though i'm starting out smaller this time (or i'm pretty sure i am--we don't have a scale), i'm feeling hopeless about going out (we have so many parties and events going on--we're invited to 3 parties this weekend alone!) i have nothing to wear/nothing that fits and i'm so frustrated. to top that off, i have to try to wear things i can nurse in, so add to the frustration.
just not feeling great about how i look. i have so many friends who pop the baby out and look fab a week later. so unfair. so so unfair. :

I finally talked to DH about how I've been feeling and he said of course he's still attracted to me. That made me feel better even though I don't believe him. Ha. My stomach is still big but I went walking the other day for several miles with the baby in the sling and weighed myself a few days after that and had lost 9 lbs! So that gave me a lot of hope even though the weight went back up. At least I've shed a few pounds. I still have 20 lbs to go and wondering how I'm going to lose it when it's too cold to go outside. And those that have already lost the weight, I don't know how that's possible! I'm not even eating anything that's bad for me. What gives?

ugh! I am hating my body right now. I had a c-section and came home from the hospital bigger and heavier than when I was pregnant! I finally lost the water weight (30 lbs) and 9 more lbs fat (39 total lbs) but I am still 41 lbs over my pp weight and cannot get any of my pants over my thighs and butt, which seemed to have doubled in size with delivery! In addition, the stretch marks are bumming me out big time. I didnt get any on my tummy until 2 wks before delivery but they managed to get pretty bad in that time. My breasts are completely different and I am fearing that they will never be the same again since BFing. and the brown line going down my belly is still there. Will it ever go away??!??!

Joining the 'UGH I hate my body' chorus, sadly. I'm not sure why I had the expectation that by 6 weeks pp I'd have my normal body back...and here we are, 5 weeks pp and my weight is exactly what it was the day after DD was born. I gained about 25 pounds and lost about 10 with the birth, and now I'm sitting here with 15 pounds left to lose and I'm just stuck. Why do all of those people say that breastfeeding makes a person lose weight? Cuz I think that's a crock.

Anyway, I can't fit into any of my pre-preg. clothes - they were all fairly slim fitting. I have hardly any maternity clothing and it's mostly summer stuff, so I've had to buy a few new things to wear. Sigh. I want my body back.

I'm there with the last couple posters....mind is okay, but body is sad, very sad.

Been trying to eat more healthy past week and have gained 2 pounds Am same weight as after the birth and barely anything fits. This is hard when baby pukes on me a couple times a day - on my only 2 or 3 shirts that do fit! I feel sluggish and hungry all the time, my skin is gross, my hair is incredibly dry. My "downstairs" still aches sometimes, especially at end of the day. Haven't even tried to DTD yet. And I have a hemmeroid : (But at least that has got a lot better)

I'm in Australia so we're coming into summer, which is good in terms of being able to go out walking, but bad in terms of exposing fat! (arms, legs, etc yuck!) Especially because we're going on vacation in 3 weeks to the beach. Argh!!!

Oh, and I also have no shoes at the moment and live in flip-flops.

On the flip side, I just remind myself that there are far worse things in this world than some extra fat. Especially as I've been watching the entire series of Six Feet Under on DVD over the past few weeks...watching a TV series where every episode is about someone dead makes me really appreciate my life, fat, stretchmarks and all!!!

Sometimes I feel good about my body, other times not so much. Usually when I have to go out and realize that only my sweats fit, I feel fat. I can fit into 2 pairs of pre-preggo jeans, but I end up with a muffin top-not a cute look for me. I hate this in between stage where I hardly have anything to wear.

I still have 30lbs to lose to get to my pre-preg weight. Yeah... it's gonna be a while. I'm breastfeeding exclusively and not losing an ounce. And it's not like I eat a lot or anything. I eat tiny little meals... and sometimes it's hours before I realize i'm starving! I don't know what the deal is. I'm mostly a vegetarian... so this really shouldn't be a problem.

Ahhh. I wish I would have known that. Those were a frustrating few weeks but now the weight is coming off again.
I gained almost 50 pounds this time. A little over 35 is off so I still have about 15 to go.
The belly and love handles are killing me and my face is still a little fuller than I am used to but no major stretch marks to speak of.
I haven't looked down there yet. I had a labial tear that is still a bit sensitive sometimes but I want to give it a little more time so I don't freak out unnecessarily. I had dh look at and he said it looked ok just a little red and then it got him all excited so I guess he doesn't mind if it looks a little different.

April thankful mommy to my boys Big Red 3/06 Little Z 9/08 and happily awaiting the arrival of 10/10 :
