My little miss has just started sucking on her thumb. It's odd bc I'm so used to her comfort nursing all the time and now she sucks on her thumb instead. Makes me think she isn't eating enough, lol. I guess I'm just thinking of how my son used to nurse around the clock! I just hope that she isn't too hard to break f this new habit... I sucked my thumb til I was 7!!! She's only taken a pacifier a couple of times and those were when my mom held her. Any other time she's like "Get that thing away from me!"
So what about your little ones??

She will take a paci, but prefers her hands. She will comfort nurse only to an extent. If she is super tired, she prefers the paci. The milk frustrates her!

She comfort nurses a bit, will take a paci in certain situations, and sucks on her fist a lot like Nora does; the thumb is in her mouth but she's noshing the whole fist. She'll also still suck on your pinky if nothing else is available.

he loves a good empty boob, but i can only handle that for so long... plus, i have oversupply issues, so lots of sucking is going to produce so much milk my whole family might drown!
like nora, he is a fist sucker. the fist comes out when he is in the swing or just hanging out on me. he likes the paci for daytime naps - not at night though. any toy we give him to cloutch is furiously sucked on as well. He gets nice and slobbery wet with the neck of any jacket that gets near his mouth too!
this kid is super oral. what does freud say about that again?!
But yeah pretty much a boob man.

In the early morning she comfort nurses. She will start getting crabby until I give her a boob and she sucks for a couple minutes and falls back asleep.
During the day she needs to be held and have her blanket against her face. Most of the time she won't use her paci during the day.
Dex prefers the pacifier. He has recently found his hands, though, and sucks on them now, too. That seems to be more of a happy time thing than a self comforting effort. He has never comfort nursed and gets ticked if he just wants to suck and ends up with a mouth full of milk. Oh, the screaming when that happens! Silly boy.
Those of you that are loving the moby- You MUST find yourself a good woven wrap. OMG. Heaven and not bouncy!
As for comfort, Ainsley will take a paci in certain situations, usually only in the carseat/car, though. She's taken to sucking on her fists which at first I thought was rooting, but earlier today while in the wrap in a store she was sucking away while looking around, and I'd just fed her, she eventually sucked herself to sleep! She's a huge fan of the boob, but won't comfort nurse like my first did, only when she feels like it. She's really a fly by the seat of her pants kinda girl.. it's whatever she feels like at the time!
