We've been pretty sure we're naming our babe Iris ever since we found out she's a girl (since 13 weeks). Anyway, the name has definately stuck but her middle name, not so much. I thought we had agreed on using Adeline or Adelaide but dh is now not as convinced. So now we're back to square one in the naming game. Anyone have any suggestions for me? The one criteria I do have is that her middle name has to start with an A.

So far on my list I have...

Adeline* my fav
Adelaide* a close second
Audrey* dh's fav
Aurora
Avalon

What other A names sound good that I'm overlooking?

Out of your list, I like Avalon the best. (We're considering the name Avonlea for a girl.) Of the others, I really love Iris Ainsley : and Iris Aurelia.

Iris Aviva came to my mind as I was reading your post.

Maybe Anabel?

not in your DDC but Avalon is one of my top first names for a girl, i love it. i also like Avonlea. and i like Avon (after the river Avon) too, but i won't use it for a first name myself because there's too much name recognition with the cosmetics brand. i'd use it as a middle name though. since i'm here i also like:

Anaya - it's Sanskrit for "completely free"
Áine (old Welsh/Gaelic version of Anya)
Arwen or Arwyn (but there's the LOTR issue...)
Astrid
Aeryn (pronounced just like Erin)
Ayana
Alessandra
Amber

My favorite A name (besides Autumn which is my name haha) is Aurelia.
Of your names, I like Adelaine and Adelaide the best as well. They have the best flow.

My DD's middle name is Arden. Not sure if that flows with Iris or not, but still one of my fave names. And I had Adelaide on the list for this babe, too, but I'm convinced it's a boy. Plus DF didn't like it.

Strangely, the only one from your original list that I don't love with Iris is Audrey. It doesn't flow as well as the others. (You think I'd be partial to it, however, since it is DD's name.)

I have been planning on the name "Iris" for a girl since before I became pregnant and I don't mind sharing my middle name with you - "Mathilde." We'll have to make sure to post pictures of our Irises together when they make their appearances!

Oh, the other middle name I like does start with an "A" - "Astrid" - my grandmother's name and my real name.

No Allison on the list?

Actually, I don't think that sounds the best. I think Iris is a beautiful name though!

Of yours I LOVE Aurora. Always has been on the top of my list for girls names (I guess its because I love Disney movies so much )

Other than that, a non A name that came to mine, no idea why, when I heard Iris was Michele.

And another A name I saw on here that I also love very very much, and I think sounds wonderful is Iris Aurelia (Aurelia being the name this LO would have had if he was a she ).

Wife & Mama to Two Loving Kids DS1 (7/7/07) DS2 (925/08) and DS3 (6/28/12)! And our new furbaby puppy Koda!

No, but I replied!

You have 2 L's, too? I rarely ever see it spelled that way.

I vote for Iris Aurora!

I think you need a one or three syllable middle name, since you have a two syllabe first name. I love the name Audrey, but I think it sounds funny when combined with Iris, esp since they both are stressed on the first syllable. Am I making any sense?

Yep, 2 L's. I think it looks much prettier that way.
