Didn't see one of these started yet, so I figured I might as well.

Hope everyone has a fabulous week - Ladies, we are in SEPTEMBER! :

AAM - So, I'm feeling pretty darn useless on bedrest. DH is bearing the brunt of the work around the house, but is definitely feeling stressed about it, and it rubs off on me. I'm supposed to be off my feet, but honestly it just makes me feel lazy. So, already I've cleaned out the linen closet (looks great), made kibble for the kitties, and did some laundry. I wish there were more things I could do, but unfortunately I'm just not willing to risk the health of this baby just to make DH feel like he's not doing all the work. Any advice guys? Don't know what I'm looking for, maybe I just need to vent. Who knows?

Alright, well, have a great week everyone!

I know! I can't believe it is practically September. I'm really wanting to hang up this cute little harvest decor I found at the thrift store but it's still too early. Guess I'll have to wait a couple more weeks.

Carrie - Just let DH know that you appreciate everything he does and although you really want to do stuff don't do it. Even if he doesn't do things the way you would....you have to let it go and take it easy on him. Try to let this still be an enjoyable time even if the situation isn't ideal.

Since I started having these contrax after my chiro appointment this past Wednesday, I don't know if I should go this week. Chris was like, no way you are not going, are you kidding? Do you guys agree?

Babe is already head down, which is why I was going (to ensure she wouldn't be breech) so what do you guys think? Should I just lay off it for the next few weeks?

Changed - Oh no! Almost there! You can do it!!

Hmmm....I would think that if you are feeling okay and don't have any immediate need for adjustment then I would probably not go. Although I've never heard of chiro care initializing ctx.

Carrie, ask your DH, as seriously as you can, if he would rather have you help him clean the house while your baby is in the NICU from being premature. If that's not what he wants, then he needs to keep his feelings to himself for just a little while longer. YOU need to stay in bed or at least reclined on the couch. I went through this with my DH last time, and DS was STILL early and spent a week in the NICU. I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

AAM: Sleeping in such strange positions has somehow tweaked my shoulder like you would not believe. Yesterday, I could barely lift my arm and I spent most of the day reclined on a heating pad and trying to stretch my neck. It went from mid-back all the way up my neck. Today was quite a bit better, but it's still pretty sore and stiff. At least I could lift my arm enough to do my hair. I was not so lucky yesterday, it was a VERY bad hair day (and I have a LOT of hair).

Spent today shopping with friends at our local outlets, bought a bunch of cute things for the kids at the Pottery Barn outlet (have I mentioned how much I love the PB outlet? I'm certain I have...) and almost passed out at GapKids. It has just been so darned hot and I know I'm not drinking enough water while we're out. Luckily my friend was right next to me, saw my face, and shoved a water bottle in my hand. Ten minutes later I was better, but we called it quits for shopping.

On the way home my throat started to hurt and at this point, I definitely will be sick tomorrow. Bleh, I'd been doing so well! Now I'm stuffy and sniffly and I can feel my glands swelling already. Not how I wanted to start the week. Fingers crossed and all the good luck vibes that this is over quickly. I had a cold while in labor with DS and I would really like to not have that happen again.

Great week, ladies! It's September! More babies will be arriving soon! :

I'll probably skip the chiro then. I don't have a good feeling about going. Something about the way I totally contract when he's adjusting my sacrum and the table drops over and over. Maybe baby just doesn't like it anymore.

OMG thank you for this! I'm so sorry about your experience with your son. I feel like I'm taking this bedrest seriously but am getting some resentment from DH, and to me that is just plain annoying. I got up before to answer the door, it was my MIL and she was like, "Sit down, sit down, you shouldn't be up!" and I was like, "You are so right!" Meanwhile DH is like, "Can you do the laundry?" Maybe the seriousness of a 35 weeker isn't real to him?

I am taking the night off from standing and tomorrow I am going to be very good about lying down. Thank goodness I have the next 2 days off of work so I can just chill.

I do hope you're not getting sick! Maybe it's just allergies? Mine have been horrendous this summer! Feel better soon!!!

Hey Carrie, did you make a decision on if Friday will be your last day or not?

JMarie, I too hope it's just allergies or the like and you won't be sick!

As for me, my belly button is threatening to erupt.

Today has been an AWESOME day! :

Woke up to some good lovin' with Dh, made him a big breakfast (he was like, what have you done with my wife?! ), and then later in the afternoon we threw a frisbee in the park for a couple hours. I even made dinner too! (Dh is still looking at me like I'm an alien transplant, I never cook)

And now, SIL is over "practicing" her spiel for her scammy new job. : She wants all our account #s for credit cards/banks/car loans so she can "negotiate" better rates for us. Her manager is with her and this is her first time. Dh has put his foot down and is giving her info on his 2 credit cards that are not attached to me at all b/c I am INCREDIBLY AGAINST this thing. He feels he has to do this for his sister, I don't feel family ties go so far as to include our financial info. So I'm sitting at the computer listening to this guy spew is crap (been talking for 15 min now about how legitimate his company really is ) while SIL looks on/jumps in here and there and I am cringing. Dh has agreed that in no way shape of form will he be giving any $ to them. But I'm still incredibly uncomfortable with it. Sometimes I wish we had the type of relationship where I felt able to tell
him what he can and cannot do, but we don't, so all I can say is he's not giving them any info that connects to us as a family at all.

So my perfect day is ending in incredibly stress.

Have him bring you work in bed, like the laundry to sort or fold, and boxes from the closet you can sort through, or even offer to do the budget for the month. That sort of thing. I am sure some of his stress is worry about you and the baby. Besides once your LO comes out, and is nursing non-stop for the first few weeks he will be doing alot fo teh hosue work anyway. Just make sure you tell him how wonderful he is a lot!!

Sounds like you need a different Chiro, esp considerign your bed rest. Make sure if you are seeing someone they specailize in pregnant women, I have been to two as apregnanyt woman. And while they both said they specailized, the lady one has a much better touch and feel for pregnancy. Be careful!

I totally hear you about bursting belly buttons, I think Guppie's butt is right under mine and he/she likes to wiggle it!!

I go through the same thing with DH to an extent, but he is doing a LOT more and doesn't b*tch about it anymore. I agree that he is PROBABLY stressed about you and babe too and you know some guys, just don't know how to deal with it. Good luck Carrie! And stay off your feet! We all want that babe to cook for AT LEAST 2 more weeks (then you will still be able to have your homebirth )

Amber_Lion, I hope that you can just kick this guy and your SIL out of your house. Don't stress, not good for the babe Good luck though!

AAM: I am pretty exhausted today. DH, DS and I went to the park, swimming, grocery shopping, then grilled (well, I made potato salad and french fries and corn while DH grilled steaks outside). It was a good day though

I will be 35 weeks on Tuesday (even though every time I go for u/s or OB appt they feel the need to tell me that I am due a week earlier, I just want to slap them silly I cannot believe I have just over 5 weeks to go!!

I hope everybody has an awesome week this week

Alright, well, have a great week everyone!
I hope it gets better with your DH. I know my DH does not do well when I am not up to my normal abilities. Earlier in this pg (sometime in the second tri), I managed to throw my back out and get a nasty sinus infection right around the same time. I was not good for much and he got super grumpy about it. I even did more than I should have around the house in order to not have him be in such a terrible mood about having to vacuum and make dinner after work.

I think this is part of why we have such a hard time postpartum: I'm not able to do what I normally do. Anyway, lots of because I know how hard it is, but really it is him that needs to just deal with it.

AAM: I'm 32 weeks now and still feeling pretty good. I'm tired, but nothing too terrible physically which is nice. I'm getting tons of BH, especially when we go out walking, but not too many that I'm concerned about them. I feel like all I do all day is drink water.

Also, I just found out last week that my friend I've known since junior high is pg with her second (she also has an older stepson, so it's their third, but her second pg). She's already about 18 weeks and I'm kind of hurt that she just now decided to share the news. She did the same thing last time, but I thought that was due to the fact that she got pg while her and her DH were separated so she was embarrassed about it or something. I guess not since she did the same this time around. I'm trying not to let it bother me as it's her news to tell when she's ready, but it still hurts to be left out of something so big, especially when it's the second time we're pg together. Oh well, someone tell me to get over it!

Baby Cakes- You really NEED to continue seeing a chiro if you're on bedrest. Laying down, or even sitting down, you may not notice if you're out of alignment until labor, and THAT you do not want!

Ask him not to do the drop, it made me panicky during PG, and it's not that effective. Ask him insstead if he can have you lay on your side, and have you bring your leg up, and he can adjust our pelvis that way. THat's what my chiro does with me, and it works. If he won't-and I had a chiro last pg that wouldn't-tell him thanks, you'll be seeing a different chiro then!

And STAY OFF YOUR FEET!! Your grumpy DH is in very good company, BTW, he and my DH can hang out anytime! :

JMarie-I have the same arm thing happening, and it literally ids what gets me out of bed in the morning, it hurts so darn bad. I wanted to cry this am, and I can't even take ibuprophen, and that's the only thing that would help. s I know how you feel!

JMarie, i hope you are feeling better. i had some dizziness spells last week and my MW said it probably had something to do w/ the fact that our blood levels change at the end of pregnancy. It only lasted a few days though.

Amber, that sounds very annoying.....however, good you had a great day prior to that "spiel".

i am seriously thinking of hiring someone for after baby is here, even though DP is taking a month off work. I have been nesting the last few days and the house is a wreck (while i try to get the rooms painted and the basement area organized that has boxes of boxes of stuff to be put away). I come up or downstairs and its just COMPLETE CHAOS. I asked him to deal w/ food yesterday (so i could focus) and I ended up eating cereal for dinner. NOT a good thing. He apologized later but it was just soooooo......annoying!!! lol!

36 weeks today!! my MW is doing the home visit this Friday so I really have to get cracking!!

i have had a very difficult weekend w/ the toddler being sick. he has been nursing all the time and each time he does, the contrax are constant. i know its best for him, but man, it has been really hard on me. He was up until nearly 3am last night.

carrie, i would see about another chiro if you are comfortable w/ yours. I agree that there are reasons other than breech to see a chiro weekly. i skipped the chiro for about 2 weeks a few weeks ago and there was major adjustment that needed to happen when i went back.

Carrie, I know that for me, the chiro makes me more nervous if I've had an uncomfortable visit, so be sure to share your concerns if you decide to go.

Amber Lion- I'm glad you had a great most of yesterday. I find that my DH is less likely to be stubborn and steam ahead with something I object to when I'm quiet about it. Good luck with this strange-sounding business your SIL is involved in.

AAM- 33 weeks today. FIL is visiting to help DH on finishing up the wiring for the house. He had the gall to be offended about the work he's been doing-- saying that it wasn't necessary to do right now, that it was just "busy work". I wanted to scream-- "If you think wiring my house so we can be closer to moving in is busy work and unnecessary, stop inviting yourself over and criticizing us, and let me have a weekend with my husband, instead of invading my home with your negativity." Whew! That felt better to vent. One consolation: at least MIL isn't here.

I'm getting anxious about not having frozen enough food yet for postpartum. I need to look at what I have in the pantry, etc. and get cookin'.

I think the chiro is out. I talked it over with Chris and he is passionately adamant about me not going back, especially now. The worry in his voice was something I'd never heard before. So, yeah, that's not going to happen - and honestly, it's got to be for the best at this point.

I think I'm feeling that Friday is going to be my last day of work! :

I think I'll just put all the notes, folders, orders, etc on my "supervisor's" desk and bid her a farewell. Let her fall on her face. It's her fault for being off this week, and I've got more important things to worry about.

Last night was tough and the contrax were more frequent and with the period like cramps again. I just have trouble with one thing. If the FFn test was negative, and I'm 99% guaranteed not to go into labor in the next 2 weeks, they why does bedrest/taking it easy have any effect on anything? If these pre-birth waves (trying to use my Hypnobirthing terms) aren't truly doing anything, why does taking it easy help? Or is it that they are ripening my cervix and there is still that chance that I could go into real labor regardless? Anybody have any light to shed?

My husband is driving me bonkers...I swear the less i'm able to do these days the more i'm doing because he is becoming lazier and lazier...WTH is up with that. This morning I made him get up with the boys cuz I just did not sleep well at all and he didn't' bother to change my youngest or feed them breakfast till I got up two hours later!!!! WTF!! Seriously he is pissing me off. Everything with him is a complaint and he is doing everything sooo slowly!!

Where did my considerate helpful husband from the first trimester go...I want him back...this one sucks!!!

They may not be making serious immediate progress but they're doing something. I don't really know what or how bedrest changes that but I think getting over tired or fatigued could encourage things too soon.

Well, last night went a little better than expected. I ended up cleaning the house like a madwoman b/c I had to *do* something or I would have exploded listening to the guy, but they also couldn't do anything with just Dh's cc info so they got nada from us at all. SIL didn't say a word, so I'm still unclear on how that was her "practicing" which was the only reason I agreed in the first place to Dh doing it. Oh well! Over and done with.

We had some guy call us about getting us better rates on our credit card. It was really shady. I asked him for the name of the business which was totally generic and he couldn't give me a phone number to call him back b/c until I gave him our cc info so he could see how much debt we had he didn't know which dept I would qualify for ???? yeah, scammer.

Carrie, if it were me, I would still go to the chiro. Mainly because I know how much better my body functions when my spine is in alignment and with you being down so much (just like riding in a car for a long time), your spine can't possibly be where it's supposed to be. I know I'll need my spine to be in alignment come time for labor and birth so things can move around more easily. You know what's right for you though so if you truly feel uncomfortable with going, then don't go. You might call the chiro's office and see what the doc thinks.

AAM: Mizzou won! YAY! We spent the day with my Dad, stepmom, and younger sis yesterday which was nice. We're just bummin' around today. We slept in and I even took a nap after breakfast. We've been to the grocery store and we have Bradley class tonight. I love long weekends with DH.

Sounds like you had an awesome weekend, Tara!

I just have to brag about how wonderful my MIL is. She called before and said she was coming over, that she had something for us. DH jokingly said that we have no more room for stuff, and she promised it wasn't another bagful of baby clothes from Carters! (Honestly, she hasn't come by empty handed for the past 2 months!)

Anyways, she showed up with veggie burgers, buns, macaroni salad, baked beans, and a whole bowl of fruit salad! She said since I was stuck at home on bedrest, she wanted to bring the BBQ to us! How incredibly sweet is that?!?

How wonderful Carrie! That sounds really good! I hope people think to bring us food when we get to the point that we need it.

I forgot to say in my last post that the weekend was great until we were headed from the game Sat night to our hotel room in another part of town. We were talking and following the flow of traffic (detours all over St. Louis) and then came the lights flashing in the rear view. Ugh. Yes, we got pulled over and DH was ticketed. : We're still not sure he clocked us correctly or that he was clocking at all. We think he was just driving behind us and got a speed based on that. He claimed we were going 78 in a 60. : We weren't even passing any of the other cars and there was a lot of traffic! Why did WE get pulled over?! DH never drives the limit but he doesn't drive THAT fast. Sheesh. Oh well.

34w1d here (but who's counting? )! I've been having some sciatic issues. I see my chiro again tomorrow. She does that "dropping the table" thing too--I wasn't expecting that last time. I'm really hoping she can do something for me. She gave me a stretch to try last time I went that did absolutely nothing for me. I have two friends that rave about her, though, so I'll give her another go.

Sounds like most of you had pretty fun Labor Day weekends! We went and saw the Bodies Revealed exhibit on Saturday with a friend. I wasn't all that excited about it, but a female friend of ours wanted to go and DH was the only other person she could find that wanted to go. He felt like it would be awkward to go by himself with her (she and her DH are more "couple friends" with us) so I jokingly said I'd chaperone their "date", ha ha. Anyway, I'm really glad I went. It wasn't nearly as disturbing as I thought it might be and was actually pretty fascinating. We met up with friend's DH afterward for dinner and games. We had dinner with another set of friends last night and they were supposed to have fireworks in their neighborhood (delayed because of all the CA fires) but they got cancelled because of high winds. Today DH hung around the house and worked on a huge box of work he brought home, so I went out and had a pedi/mani and had lunch by myself with a good book

Wife to a great DH, SAHM to 3 great kids

Thanks guys! My MIL has been fabulous throughout this whole pregnancy. She is the best!

Tara, ugh, getting pulled over sucks. It's so nervewracking, isn't it?

Tiger - that exhibit sounds so interesting! I wish I had the energy to do the museum thing right now. The idea of being on my feet walking slowly for more than 10 minutes sounds absolutely exhausting to me right now!

AAM - Insomnia stinks. I have been up every hour on the half hour since 11:30 pm, and it is now 3:05 am. I either wake up just from random thoughts, random dreams, thinking about my stupid mother and how she hasn't replied to my email yet, having to pee, or having a contraction. Finally, this time, I was like, forget it, I'm just getting up and going to watch TV and play online. I cannot sleep. Boo.

Carrie SAHM to Nora Caitlyn (5) and Finnley Dax (2) homebirthing, breastfeeding, babywearing, intactivist, doula mama!

Hello Ladies!

I'm seeing lots of mamas who aren't feeling too well and/or dealing with knucklehead DHs this week. s for you all. I hope you all find comfort, and that your DHs become more considerate soon.

I'm back home after a long weekend at the family cabin on Greer's Ferry Lake in Arkansas. I spent a lot of time floating around in the lake, boating, eating too much, and working on my birth preferences.

Before we left, I had my last day of work : ! A few of my co-workers had a little baby shower for me and gave me a generous gift certificate I intend to use for crib bedding. The nursery will (nearly) be complete soon.

DH and I had a great meeting with my doula before we left, too. She's so awesome. We genuinely like her, and she makes us feel so much more confident and excited about giving birth for the first time.

The bad news: DH has to go to Florida on business. He hasn't gone since early in my pregnancy, and neither one of us is very happy about it, but it really can't be avoided. He leaves this evening and I'm going to miss him a lot, but he'll be back Friday. I always get a little nervous about him leaving while I'm pregnant since the time I had a bleeding scare and he was away. That was hard for both of us. Since I don't work anymore, I could go along, but I'm 34 weeks now, so I don't think I would be able to fly on such short notice. I would also miss childbirth class and yoga.

The entire month of August was very busy and hectic for both of us, and I just want us to be able to relax a bit, finalize our baby preparations, and enjoy each other. It was my hope that September would go that way, but it's not getting off to the best start. Maybe next week...

Maryann- force an induction? Wow! Your MIL is really a control freak.

Tiger- I'm glad you had such a nice weekend. Mani/pedi, a book and a trip to Bodies Revealed w/o children sounds like a great treat! I was thinking of booking a calf wax/pedi for this week (since shaving and clipping my toenails are out right now) but probably won't get around to it.

BabyCakes- so sorry to hear about the sleeping woes and contrax. It sounds like bed rest, no matter how annoying, is a good option, if walking for 10 min. sounds exhausting. Congratulations on finishing up work.

Crosscat- You're done with the workplace! Hooray!

AAM- FIL is much better when MIL isn't here, although he does expect women to serve him. When I asked him what he wanted for lunch, he said "what are you making?" I replied "You know what's in the fridge." But, on the whole the visit ended well. I made two pots of soup last night and he came in "Are you cooking again?" I glibly remarked "Well, if you all would stop eating, I wouldn't have to cook!"

I've become a total homebody, which I knew was possible, but this is downright funny. When we first bought our property, our "town" was under 2,000 people. So, I am amazed that there are weeks now when I don't have to leave this tiny little town, especially during the December-April Farmer's Market hiatus. I was supposed to go to an open house yesterday, but was just too cranky without a nap by the time I should have been getting ready. I guess you could say I'm just comfy in my little nest!
