It's ridiculous how long and far I've searched for a Hispanic baby doll. : My 2yo DD is baby-doll-addicted, and I'm looking for:

- a small doll, 16in max (12 in better), easy to dress
- realistic-looking (i.e., not cartoony, no Dora!)
- brown hair, brown eyes, light brown skin
- no "special features" like talking, moving, wetting, etc. Just a simple doll.
- =< $30 since we will eventually be getting a full set of diverse babies, but it seems much easier finding other ethnicities.

I'm having no luck finding anything like this in the stores; so I'm looking online and still having trouble finding just the right one, plus I'd like some input from folks who have seen them in person. I'm almost to the point of putting down a ridiculous sum of money to find something that fits the bill perfectly, but I still haven't seen it. Any help?

How about these? They're definitely in your price range at least.

Thanks for the links, gals! These are exactly the kind of doll I had in mind. Have any of you seen them in person? I know I've read a lot about the Corolle dolls in other forums... the only difference between the Cailin and the Tadoo is that the tadoo can go in the bathtub and the other can't? Does anyone have the tadoo? (I think I'm spelling that wrong!... sorry!)

I like these links here, that cloth anatomically correct one is interesting.

I found a probably AA baby doll at a garage sale that looked more like an AA/Latina mix doll, reminded me of my DSD-6 so I bought it. Maybe look at garage sales/thrift?

I bought my foster daughter the Callin doll. She's perfect- darker skin and brown cloth body. The Lakeshore dolls someone posted are really small. About Barbie doll height.

How about this tan doll , Lucy, from Pottery Barn Kids? I got her for my now 5 year old when she was a babe. It was her first doll - her name was Sarah then. She's soft and 15" high and she's cute! Good luck!

Hi all!

I wanted to bump this up to find another doll I thought fit the bill well. I saw this Water Babies doll in person at BJ's and got to check it out well before buying it. It's adorable! The skin is very light brown, hair (molded head) is shaded light brown, and the copper-brown eyes are BEAUTIFUL! It is about 13 inches long and the whole body is plastic. No batteries, no talking, no blinking eyes, nothing wacky... just a good ol' fashioned doll. You are supposed to put warm water in it and then it "feels like a real baby", so I'm pretty sure that means it's bath-friendly as well. Without the water it is lightweight and flexible enough for my DD to get a good grip on it and move the limbs a bit. It is for ages 3 and up, and I believe I got it for $20 at BJ's.

FTR, this line includes a caucasian (w/ different colored eyes) and an AA baby but no Asian doll.

Fisher Price has some Hispanic "Little Mommy" babies, though I'm not sure what makes them Hispanic other than the brown eyes - the skin color (at least in the pics) is VERY light.

Thanks, Sancta... DD actually has that Little Mommy doll and she LOVES it! I'd recommend it highly except that yeah, it has brown eyes and that makes it Hispanic, apparently. We are looking for slightly more distinguishable dolls, but I do have to say that the Little Mommies doll is a nice, small, soft, easy-to-carry doll that my DD really enjoys.

If you are crafty, you could always fashion your own soft cloth doll. There are patterns out there to help.

Tidoo!!!

I love the corolle dolls. I wanted to give my son Tidoo for Christmas last year but the AA version is difficult to find.

My foster daughter has the white Tidoo and the hispanic Callin. They're both terrific. Neither one has gone in the tub, though.

That we have for my dd. We got the med skin, brown eyes, and brown hair that could be used for Hispanic or black/white.
