Basically I'm looking for more like minded home educating parents to talk to locally.       blahblah.gif

I belong to a number of homeschool groups & such, but find that most are very much hinged on strict curriculum or specific educational styles such as Waldorf. It would be nice to have some more free-spirited people to chat with, who would understand our excitement in unstructured achievements.

TEAK's Mom is/was in Juneau but I haven't seen her post in a very long time.

Hey, Rik-E.  :)  I think most of us don't count ourselves true "unschoolers," especially in these forums, because so many of us use IDEA or Raven or whatever. :)

We definitely have a rapid-fire, find-what-interests-you approach to education.  I do a lot of history and math with the kids, and read to the youngest all the time, but that's because that's what they want, believe it or not.  They actually *ask* for "lessons."  ;)  (I need to bookmark this statement for days when I'm banging my head on the wall regarding our schooling approach). ;)

LMK if you want to talk!

love, p

We do a few lessons too, and go through FOCUShomeschool as they don't do the standard grading system. We do a lot of history & science, some math & writing. Reading is always big, weither I am reading to them or the oldest reading for himself.

Nice to meet you!
