What surprised me most about meeting *unschooling gurus* in person was who was incredibly different
than their writing style and who was exactly the same as on the page.
Sandra Dodd bowled me over when I first met her, I was more than a bit intimidated... so I warmed up to her kids
My kids spent LOTS of time with them at the Live and Learn conference last year and insisted a trip to their house be added to our western road trip itinerary. Sandra and I really connected then, in the planning and in the visit. Her energy is amazing, but you've gotta be braced to handle it.
I thought I would instantly hit it off with Joyce Fetteroll, too, but the spark I imagined just wasn't there...
Anne Ohman, however, is just as she writes -- bright shining, oooozing her love of life, empathetic and inspiring.
Then theres the sub-set of everyday unschooling folk -- those who live it without writing about it, I met hundreds of them... inspired by every single one of them!
Y'all know the best place to meet these folks, their families and many more freaks
is in St. Louis this October -- guaranteed fill your life with
