This is kind of an odd question, and kind of funny! My 3 year old is working on potty training (and doing quite well!) He is intact. He's *tiny*, only 26 pounds and 35 in tall. Because of that, he has to sit. No big deal, many boys start out sitting anyway. But his foreskin often "sticks" to his scrotum. If I'm helping him go potty, I'll always "unstick" it for him and help him point his penis down so he pees IN the potty. But a few times he has gone potty by himself, and doesn't "unstick" his foreskin or point his penis down and ends up peeing everywhere! With my older son, I just taught him to "unstick" his foreskin and problem solved. But my 3 year old is special needs, and cognitively just isn't able to remember to do this, nor understand the reasoning behind it. Any suggestions?

see if he will sit facing the toilet tank... it's easier to balance, climb up, and there is more room in the actual toilet lid so he doesn't really have to aim!

Oh, thixle, what a great idea!
I have a 2 year old boy (after two girls) so the potty learning is new to me too. I might just employ this idea when he is using the big potty. Right now he uses the baby bjorn.

My little guy climbs on backwards & squats. With his feet on the seat & facing the tank. Maybe the aim will be better at that angle!

My suggestion would be to use a little potty with the "pee guard" on the front. He could probably get on and off and do his business with less help from you than if he was using the big toilet.

My DS, who isn't SN, was around the same size at 3 yo and absolutely needed to be reminded to unstick, aim and point. I would not think this was necessarily related to the SN, just b/c your previous DS got the idea sooner. DS used the little potty till he was almost 4 yo and could reach the toilet while standing. When he started peeing standing up, unsticking became a more obvious part of the process and he stopped needing reminders all the time. We also used floating breakfast cereal (cheerios, fruitloops, etc) as targets to improve his aim.
