Hi,

I read this previous thread http://www.mothering.com/community/forum/thread/1235610/steroid-cream-to-treat-complications-of-preputial-stenosis-phimosis-in-children and was wondering if anyone else has any input.

My son's foreskin was forcibly retracted partially when he was almost 4.  He has had a urinary infection a couple of times since.

Now, the foreskin is wrapped around his penis where only a tiny PIN-SIZED hole is there for him to try to urinate.  This is painful and he often cries when urinating.  He will also wake up in the middle of the night, cry and stay awake for a couple of hours.  When he pees, it sprays rather than there being any kind of normal flow.  He also says that it burns.

He is currently on antibiotics and since Wednesday afternoon has been using the steroid cream.  The doctor said that there was no chance for the cream to work.  Since then, I cannot say that he has gotten any better at all.

The doctor also did not give any instructions on its use and we've been going on what the thread mentioned above did.  Of course, I did not get a good feel for just how bad her son's issues were, so this could potentially be far worse.

Does anyone have any information that they could provide?

Thanks.

If he has even a slight yeast infection or bacterial infection it will make the foreskin clamp down and not allow retraction. The number 1 thing to do is to have a swab done and see exactly what you are dealing with then treat accordingly. Another thread you need to read is here http://www.mothering.com/discussions/showthread.php?t=764732 it could be that he is also going through the separation process.

Have you called Marilyn Milos to find a foreskin knowledgable ped yet? If ot then that should be your next step at your ds's age the steroid cream isnt really recommended.
