I am looking for up-to-date information, and/or a link to the statement put out by the American Cancer Society where they say that circ is not a preventative for cervical or penile cancer, that about as many babies die from circ as men dying from penile cancer.

Is there a link to this statement on the ACA website?  Or any website other than anti-circ ones?  The person I am forwarding this information to probably won't give it much weight (or even read it) if the information comes from an anti-circ site.

Has the ACA gone back on this statement?  Have they put out a new one?

Thanks!

They list intactness as a risk factor in penile cancer. Sigh. But did they give any studies to back it up? I didn't spot them.

In the past, circumcision has been suggested as a way to prevent penile cancer. This was based on studies that reported much lower penile cancer rates among circumcised men than among uncircumcised men. But in many of those studies, the protective effect of circumcision was no longer seen after factors like smegma and phimosis were taken into account.

I would imagine it isnt the smegma that is the problem since it is just dead skin cells but it is the stuff that gets mixed in with the smegma after intercourse like the hpv virus and other std's.
