I was very interested in the books on female GM referred to in one of the responses. I looked up one, The Rape of Innocence: Female Genital Mutilation in the U.S. It claimed that Blue Cross/Blue Shield paid for clitoridectomies until 1977.

"The Rape Of Innocence" is an amazing eye opener. Written by Patricia Robinette who is one of the most ardent intactivists around.

Wow, 1977. My mom's a big supporter of male circ for health reasons. Thank the Goddess I was born in 1981 (oh and a girl, that doesn't help my borthers though ). :
