I've been meaning to do this for awhile. So I asked my insurance co. whether or not they'd pay if I wanted to have a newborn boy circ'd.

The young man very cheerily said, "Oh, yes, we'd pay for that for you." (I could tell he thought I was going to be happy with that answer!)

Then I asked where I could write to protest that. I had to clarify for him THREE TIMES that yes, I was UNHAPPY they pay for routine circ!! (I'm sure his usual experience at work is dealing with people who are unhappy about what they won't cover!)

So, he finally managed to come up with an address for me, and I'm going to write a letter.

It's NOT called *lazy*. It's called "conserving your energy". Go ahead Mamma. Conserve your energy. You can use it later.

Is it IHC, by chance, mamajulie? If so, pm me the address (or post it, whichever) and I'll write too! Heck, if they hadn't covered it a year ago, that would have definitively settled the issue for us, and my little ds would still have his foreskin.

It's UHC. (United Health Care). I'm not sure exactly what to say in the letter, but I'm going to make the point that covering unnecessary procedures raises the rates for the rest of us.

That's an excellent starting point, mamajulie - mentioning that covering unnecessary (cosmetic) procedures raises the rates for the rest of us.
