Doctor 'botched baby's circumcision'

Quote:
The child's father told the Fitness to Practise hearing: "The bandage really fell off when she put him in the water and she saw that it was a very abnormal penis. It was kind of reddish. There was still a bit of green but no glans." ...

Baby A's father said his son's penis is still two-tone in colour. "Physically it won't affect him but the colour is not there. We are not sure how it will affect him psychologically."

The Bangalore-trained doctor denies charges of acting unprofessionally and below the standard of a reasonably competent medical practitioner.
Shouldn't a reasonably competent medical practitioner have a diagnoses before performing penis surgery on a child?

I don't understand what they're saying he did wrong. There were several mentions of the baby having a two-toned penis and one mention of a green tint. What caused the color change? Is it scar tissue? What exactly did he do that caused the two-toned penis? Is that the only problem with the penis?

There is not much info in this article at all.

Wouldn't that be like someone trying to sue a dr because they have a noticeable red scar from a boob job?

I know, its a horrible analogy BUT they paid a dr to mutilate their son. Sounds to me like that's exactly what he did...you cut skin, you're going to have a scar.

The glans is the head of the penis. The whole head was missing!

Without getting into details on why, the couple is probably most familiar with how a fresh circ looks only on older children who have already become retractable. Due to the age of the child the Dr will have had to forcibly retracted him causing the skin on the glans to be quite raw, and possibly permanently discoloring it.

It seems like it's mostly a matter of not knowing what to expect. Wouldn't it be better if parents were told in detail all the possible out comes (we might call it informed consent,) but then many would say no and where's the profit in that.

I thought it was just very red and swollen.

I dont think the father meant the glans wasnt there-afterall, that would be much more than just a color issue. I think he got his terms mixed up or possibly meant the glans was an odd color, I dont know. I agree, that article really doesnt have much info.
