Does anyone know if the Amish circ or keep intact. Is it dependent on things like area, family, personal choice, etc?

we're not really supposed to talk about religion here. But since they stopped adopting new technology/ cultural things a while before the circ' craze started in the early 1900's, I assume they wouldn't. The European Christians that their traditions come from didn't circ' as far as I know, since it's actually a very new phenomena among gentiles.

Here and there, I have heard comments to the effect that many of them do circumcise (the info came from a physician). It is apparently tied into the biblical references to circumcision. A similar strain seems to run through the Mennonite community, but I have the impression that most of them are assimilated into general culture and communities, unlike the Amish. (I hope my comments will be interpreted as cultural statements rather than religious judgments).

I know that generally speaking, home birth is the norm for the Amish. I suppose its possible, depending on if they use a midwife or a home visit doctor for the birth that it might be done the "old fashioned" way and do it right after birth.

Mom of a 7 yr old, 4 yr old, and 1 yr old. Wow. How did that happen?
