My sister had her little boy circ'd almost 2 years ago. THe other day when I was changing his diaper I noticed that the head of his penis was a bluish purple and there was a very visible scar from where they removed his foreskin. I was actually very shocked when I saw it . Should it look so purple/blue??

The penis has a ALOT of color variation. For intact or circed. (intact the color range tends to be a bit brighter)

But yes, purple/blue coloring is normal, so is pink, red, brown, tan, and any other color you can possible imagine skin changing to.

The color variation is due to ethnicity, temperature change, and genetics.

It is normal for a young boy who was only circed not that long ago. As he grows up he will develop more layers of skin over his glans (head of penis) to do what the foreskin would have done if it had remained intact. This will put the blood-flow further from the surface and he will appear less and less purple/reddish. This is why intact men are more reddish than circed men.

Momma to DS (2/08) and #2 due 10/11.
