Huh? Are you saying that intact men aren't allowed in nursing homes?

I've no idea if that's what the OP was implying, but from experience woking in nursing homes, no intact elderly man should be allowed in unaccompanied.

I do agency nursing and I can't tell you the amount of times (every time) I've had to educate nursing assistants on intact care. They honestly believe that at every incontinence pad change (2 hourly) an intact man needs retracting and his glans cleaning.

Not once a day at his major daily wash, shave and spruce up but every 2 hours... some uninformed but well intentioned aid is scrubbing some poor blokes glans.

Is it any wonder we keep hearing about Great Uncle Albert and his painful 85th year circumcision that could have been avoided if he'd been circumcised as a baby, excuse for RIC?

Imagine someone digging about in your labia every 2 hours day and night with soap and water

I've heard this rumour a few times on the web- normally something about how the nursing home refused to take Grandpa until he got circumcised or some such nonsense. I cant imagine that its true, but the rumor is out there.

But if I know my circ history, circing in the US wasn't an epidemic until the 40s/50s, so the vast majority of men in nursing homes would be older than that, therefore intact.

I'm not disputing what you are saying, I'm just saying that the nurses should be well used to intact men and how to care for them.

This is wonderful! Thank you.

When I took a CNA class about 10 years ago now, we were actually taught to do both of these things. Even at the time when I was not as informed as I am now it seemed weird. Retract a intact man at every change and make sure he is cleaned well, and the recover. And make sure to spread the ladies labia and wipe out well with the wipes with every change.
So a lot of the times it the training they have received that is really flawed.

OMG I like you

That's a phenomenal answer. I still can't believe people actually ask stuff like this.

My husband is napping, but when he wakes up, I HAVE to show him this. He'll love it.
