My sister had her boy circumcised... she wasn't fond of the idea, but her dp insisted and she didn't have enough info to convince him otherwise. Anyway, the circumsion looked "different", so fast forward 5 months later and they were sent to a urologist. He is now suppose to have surgery for a penile scar to prevent later problems. My sister does not want to go through with the surgery. Does anyone know if it is absolutely necessary? And if they do, is it normal for the surgeon to use JUST the nitrous oxide?

I would love to say no it is NOT normal to just use nitrus oxide on a baby to do such a painful surgery but for all I know it is cold.gif Usually after they out grow the circumstraint they use General Anesthesia to do the circ.

It is possible they are going to do a stretching of the meatus to fix scaring at the urethra. But I honestly dont know if they use GA for that or not.

How about your sis contacts Marilyn Milos at NOCIRC.org.  She may be able to help or to refer the sis a recommendation for an intact friendly doc (read this as not circ happy nor happy to do re-dos, etc.) that she can take the baby too.  I think DOC (www.doctorsopposingcircumcision.org) may also have a list or a way to recommend a doc.  I think it'd be very difficult to diagnose the problem & possibly solutions via TCAC, honestly.

So sorry for the poor baby.  Another one of the unreported and/or underreported complications of circ: needing more surgery :-(.

Sus

Baby the babies while they're babies so they don't need babying for a lifetime.
