My 8 year old has been itching his penis for about a month or more.. and it is not a little bit either. He even itches in his sleep. There are no sores, no redness, no rash, or sign of anything..  I took him to the Dr. yesterday and he couldn't see anything. He did a urine test and found nothing... The Dr. gave him a Triple Antibiotic ointment to apply... when I look up the uses for this, all I can see is it is used for burn, cuts, and other abrasions... Now I am thinking the Dr. didn't believe my son or he didn't know what to do.  Has anyone else came across this problem before?

My 4 year old constantly has his hands in his pants, and we keep telling him to stop because it is embarrassing when we are in public. He has been doing this for a few months now, sometimes he says it itches and sometimes not. Someone told me it could be the soap I am using on him in the bathtub, but I don't know what soap I should be using. And his little brother's don't have this problem. So other than that I am lost on what to do. I am interested to see any advice other parents have here.

I agree it may be the soap. We don't use soap at all unless our son's got feces on him; then I use soap because nothing else will get the stank off anyway. When I do use soap, it's natural goat milk soap.

Is he able to fully retract?  Maybe the foreskin is still retracting and the skin is irritated, causing it to itch.
