I have no clue where this goes, as it is more a health thing, etc.

At my 39 week US the US tech saw an enlarged right kidney. My midwife says this means we need to see a pediatric urologist after birth.
Of course my mind is following the course of events...
A pediatric urologist will want to do a US of the kidneys afterwards, right? Possibly a VGUC to check kidney reflux, and then possibly antibiotics if it comes back positive? I am sure the urologist will suggest circ, which will obviously not be an option.
My question comes in- do we have to do the VGUC? And more importantly, do we have to do the "preventative" abx? Is there another less invasive, less medical approach to preserve the state of his kidneys, should there be a problem??

I dont know much about kidney reflux but I do know that the VCUG hurt my dd badly and if I had it to do over I wouldnt have had it done after just 1 UTI.

I would concent to the U/S just to check things out then wait on the VCUG. Make sure that anyone checking him out does not retract him even a little bit since this could introduce bacteria causing infection.

To make sure they understand you wont be circing when it comes up say simply "Circ is not a option" over and over if needed.

Try to find a urologist who went to a non-US medical school, or ask for reccomendations in finding your tride or by writing to DOC (doctors opposing circ.)
