I get random moments where I get so excited about certain aspects of having a new baby.

Right now I am suddenly SO excited to have a little bald baby! I was looking at pics of my DD from last summer... she was 11 months old but SO bald. Now she's got plenty of hair. I realize I miss the baldness!! The feathery soft first bits of hair!

What aspects of new baby are you most excited about?

The newborn smell
Wearing a tiny baby in my moby wrap again
Nursing a newborn
Birth & seeing them for the first time
Those funny newborn faces and noises...

I could go on!

I love their tiny little fingers and toes and all the cute chubbiness. I love how incredibly soft their skin is.

-BREASTFEEDING! Can't wait. I miss it!

-Baby laughter- DS still laughs a lot but those 6-month giggle fests were so much fun.

-Wearing the baby in my Moby wrap, as a pp said

-Seeing DS and the baby together

The magic of birth, sleeping in bliss together after all that hard work, slinging, nursing, coos & smiles, seeing my other kids fall in love, the feeling it brings between dh&me ~ when you both look at the baby and then each other and no words are needed , cute baby clothes, baby laughter, thigh rolls, big cloth diaper butt, raspberries on the tummy, when you get your babe to smile while nursing and they can't keep the latch because the corners of their mouth turn up and loose suction and milk leaks out. Oh I could go on......

WRAPPING! I can't wait to use all my wraps more frequently (and buy more wraps, heheh)
Having a baby that wants to be held all the time instead of a "put me down!" toddler.

Mama to DS R (June/06), DD K (September/07), DS M (October/08), DD R (June/09)... waiting for #5 in late 2013!!

I am really looking forward to a soft bald head. That was one of my favorite things with my son. I loved to rub my lips across the back of his head and feel the peachy fuzz. Also, just admiring the tiny-ness of everything...the toes, fingers, ears, etc. And, I really love that look of total adoration that comes from a newborn, like you can do nothing wrong and your babe just loves you completely.

I am looking forward to a lot of things, but most of all, I am excited to see DS as a big brother. He is so, SO excited for this baby, so much more than DH or I, it seems. I absolutely love seeing it through his eyes. As far as the baby though, can't wait to BF for the first time (it took me FOUR flippin' years to get off the meds that kept me from BFing DS) and hold a tiny baby again. I can't say I've missed out on snuggling - DS is a champion cuddle-monster.

I am so excited to nurse a newborn. I love it when your boob is bigger than their head and you wonder how that tiny mouth is going to latch onto your big nipple and take in any areola. I love the feeling of letdown when you are full. It is such a sense of relief. And how they grow just from mother's milk. It is amazing stuff!!

For dd to be a big sister.
To wear this baby more. And to use a moby wrap in the early days.
The smell of a newborn

Mindfully parenting DD 8/04 & DS 11/08, Human beings are the only mammals who do not nurse their offspring to full term.

Oh, yes. I had forgotten about that sweetness. It's so adorable.

This might sound weird, but I really am excited about actually giving birth. I really love labor and birth. Childrearing is the scariest part for me!

I'm really looking forward to our homebirth, especially birthing my baby and my hands being the first to touch him or her.

But most of all, I can't wait to see DS as a big brother, and how DH and I adjust and our hearts grow to love another child as much as we love DS.

And the other things: wearing a nb in the moby all snug against me, nursing a nb again, the tiny fingers and toes, the noises they make when they sleep, the startle reflex (makes me giggle), to see if this one is a little monkey and still covered in lanugo all over like DS was, and nb hair! All of it, I can't wait!... even the explosive nb poops that go all the way up the back and out the arms of a onesie

Everything. I can't wait for it all!
I especially can't wait for my dd to be a big sister. I can't wait to have them both sitting on my lap. I can't wait for the "drunk on milk" look. I can't wait to give birth in a birthing center.

This thread is so great! In an overwhelmed-feeling place right now and wondering how I'm going to manage a NB and toddler, so it's great to remember all the wonderful things to look forward to. I just love the teeny teeny clothes and how NBs fall asleep on you all the time and how they're so focused on nursing and nothing in the world could distract them. I'm also really excited for DD to be a big sister.

What a great thread.
I get little jolts of excitement as I look forward to a homebirth this time. Also the newborn smell and the soft head and the total baby relaxation after breastfeeding. Excited about seeing our son ('I'm not little I'm big!) meeting his brother-sister.

I'm looking forward to feeling that. I had an emergency c-section and was so spent, emotionally and physically, that I barely remember the first time I held my son.
