Birth stories are starting to flow in from the October DDC!! Mamas who's due dates are just within a few (sometimes less!) weeks of ours are able to share their birth stories now! I'm excited and scared! lol :

For a while I was obsessively reading birth stories. Now, I feel like putting my head in the sand. I don't think I'm ready for this!

The only birth stories I've read thus far are some from Journey Into Motherhood (a book that is nothing but natural birth stories), and a couple natural birth stories from mamas online. I haven't had any real desire to start reading birth stories. Now, though, it's very encouraging to me, planning our first homebirth, to begin reading successful natural birth stories from moms who are/were due within just a few weeks of me. It makes it more real somehow to read stories from moms who, just a few weeks ago, were in the same spot I'm in now: just a couple weeks from being term, thinking, wondering, daydreaming, etc. It's a bit scary, but exciting, too!

I am glad you started this thread as I was just thinking about this last night. I am so curious to see what this birth will be like. I am scared if it will be longer and harder than dd's. But, they always say you go faster and it is a bit easier. I guess we will find out. Dd's was fairly easy and short, although the end is no picnic. Overall, I am really excited!

Mindfully parenting DD 8/04 & DS 11/08, Human beings are the only mammals who do not nurse their offspring to full term.

I'm actually surprised that it's already October and I'm still the only one with a baby so far! Ya'll are keeping those legs crossed TIGHT! Looks like I might be bringing him home before anyone else pops!

My first laugh of the day! Thanks, buckyspurplemonkey!Let's hope you DO have Levi home by the time any of us "uncross our legs"!
Frankly, I couldn't cross my legs if I wanted to, at this point...and breathe.

I like reading the birth stories, mainly to see the baby pictures.. I took down a bunch of pictures I have of DD as well when she was a newborn. I love looking at baby pictures.
