For those of you that are planning on doing freezer meals when are you starting? I don't' want to do it too early and have things get eaten before the baby comes or freezer burn, but I don't want to save it for too late and not get it done.

I'm 36 weeks and started making and freezing soups about 2 weeks ago. So far, so good.

I started last week, at 34 weeks, with spaghetti sauce and lasanga. I'm going to add some sausage and at least one thing of soup this week, but I'm going to do the bulk of it at 38 weeks... watch, she'll be that early. :P

I am 35 weeks and I have been freezing food for about 2 weeks. I HOPE that isn't too early. I never thought about it being too early.

So far, we have:
ground turkey in tomato sauce
butternut squash soup
beef stew
a jewish dish of carrots and sweet potatos
half a turkey from my mom

I want to do some dishes with chicken and green veggies. Any ideas?

Id love to hear some of the soup and other recipes you are freezing.

So far, ive only made some baked ziti and eggplant parm. I dont think Ive ever tried to freeze anything non-italian (if that makes sense)

Wow. I am so lazy. I hate cooking; I'm not very confident in the kitchen so that doesn't help. But all these meals have my mouth watering!

I want to make some soup and some bread and spaghetti sauce but our freezer is so tiny and it puts me off. Guess I can start with the spaghetti sauce today though... we just paid the balance for our midwives and have no money to buy the extra groceries lol.

COuld y'all share some of the recipes you are using, or where you find them? I have no idea where to start when it comes to freezer meals. THanks!

wow... i just ate dinner, but reading your list is making me hungry.
those are great ideas. i would be tempted to just camp out in your kitchen post partum.

I have made thus far.... one sausage enchilada casserole.
i have also determined that my family does like stouffer's family sized meals lasagna and chicken enchiladas.

chicken enchilada-
make a mexican chili/enchilada sauce, basically make rue, add in anaheim chili powder (to taste- it can be very hot) add water to make gravy consistency and add some garlic powder.

have cooked shreaded chicken, and grated chedder cheese, roll into corn torillas, line up in pan, pour over chili and cover with cheese.

beef enchiladas
similar to chicken, but shreaded beef or ground beef.

easy chicken bake- kinda like shepards pie
ground chicken, or chicken from the can, or shreaded/cubed chicken
2 carrots, a salk of celery, some onion saute until slightly soft
add a few tablespoons of butter or oil, and a few table spoons of flour, cook slightly and then add a can or so of chicken stalk.
mix in cooked chicken

Layer in casserole, gravy chicken mix, mashed potatoes, some cheese

beef shepards pie
similar to easy chicken bake- saucy veggie meat mix in bottom, cover with potatoes and cheese, some people put in green beans or corn

chicken lazagna- has a white sauce (i will find my recipe)
reg lazagna- off the box
stuffed shells- off the box

pumpkin soup

burittos- cook 1lb beans how ever you like to, when beans are done, drain and season, i add salt and anaheim chili powder, roll with cheese into torillas

banana bread- whatever recipe you like
Zuchini bread- same as banana

Chicken broccoli rice casserole- cook rice, broccoli and chicken, When done mix together with broccoli cheese soup and cheder cheese and then cover with cheese.

Chili- i use canned beans, one can of each pink, light kidney and black, 1 lb ground beef, 1 lg can crushed tomatoes and 1 small can of diced tomatoes, and then 1/4 cup of chili powder

cordon bleu (ready to be cooked)- I only slice and fill the chicken breast before freezing

I will edit to finish these-
french toast
ham and bean soup
mac and cheese
potato fritter mix
twice baked potatoes
Quiche

My baby party is this Sun. I asked that instead of traditional gifts that people, who wanted to, to bring a freezer meal.

So we'll see how many meals I'll have to put in my freezer. So far I've made two meals myself. Lasagna and Potato/Califlower soup are in my freezer.
