Last night my sister reminded me of the possibility that going to the polls on Nov. 4th might not be an option for me, so I guess I'm going to do absentee.

Anyone going for the early vote option? Going to risk it and try to vote on the 4th? Don't have to worry about it because you live in another country?

I'm going to do my darnedest to vote on the 4th. Since I have relatively short labors, I figure even if I were to go into labor just as the polls opened that morning, I'd still be able to make it there after the birth. I am sending dh to vote tomorrow through early voting, though, because with his work schedule, any disruption might mean he doesn't get to vote. I'm attached to my little precinct and my regular pollworkers.

I live in an ity-bity town and city hall is just down the street. If I'm in labor the walk would be good for me and if I've already had the baby then surely I can sneak up there sometime. Seriously, imagine how far it is from the Maternity Ward to the Cafeteria in a Big City Hospital, that's how big my town is!

DH told me once that absentee ballets are fishy. Something about that they aren't counted, only in the event of a tie, or something like that. That has me spooked. Anyone else have any information on that?

Pookie, I have heard the same thing about absentee votes. I think it depends upon one's state. I know there was a lot of drama about absentee voting for military members in the last election, but now I can't remember the details.

I live a 5 minute drive away from the volunteer fire station where I will vote, so I'm not too worried. I think I will be having this babe before the end of October anyways.

I think I'll just stick with the 4th, but I did look it up and in my state, you can vote at the county clerk's office in the 2 weeks before election day.

I have an absentee ballot. If I make it to my c/s date, I certainly won't feel like standing in a long line one week post-op.

Isn't the post office closed today for Columbus Day?

i was considering doing the absentee ballot thing, but i'm pretty sure that this baby is going to be born before the end of october. if she's not i'll still go vote! the only way i'll miss it is if i'm in labor.

My EDD is Nov. 9th so I'm not going to bank on being available Nov. 4th (I would like to hope that he would be here already or I'll be in labor if I'm lucky). DH and I are doing early voting this week!

SAHM to DS (11/08) and EDD 3/8/11!

I too am planning on voting unless baby is crowning at that very moment. I think it would be a fabulous story to tell if I went to the polls in labor. I think Im more concerned with voting day coming after birth and me being in my babymooning phase, I didn't want to leave the house for 9 days after my last birth (I was really sore).

I voted last month, on the first day of "absentee voting in person." Where I come from, we call that "early voting" but whatever.
My EDD is also during that week and I didn't want to take any chances with voting. I live in a swing state for the first time in my life.

I already voted absentee as did hubby, my mom (my childcare person) and her husband (just in case). I can't see going to the polls in labor with a 2.5 year old!

I am doing early voting. Here during early voting, they will actually bring it to your car to do if you can not wait in line. All you have to do is call ahead of time. That is the way I am going.

Mama to Ava (12/03) , Leila (4/06) , Violet (11/08) , and bonus mama to Madison (7/98)
