I was stretching my perinium on the bed and I had a gush of fluid at 415. Now, still no contractions...and Im starting to freak out about it. I has been almost an hour and a half. The doula said take a nap, the midwife said to walk around, nipple stim, and 2oz castor oil. With my dd my water broke and cx started right away, so thats why Im freaking a bit.

Congratulations!

From a mom who has had the water break before labor twice---save your energy right now.

It honestly could be days before strong labor. Don't get discouraged. (And don't let anyone push unwanted interventions on you.)

I do hope it goes fast for you!

Mom to 5 amazing kids! (DS8, DS7, DD4, DD2 and DS0)

Sorry, not in your ddc, but I just saw this post & had to reply. Please don't worry or freak out if your contractions don't start right away. Make sure you're getting lots of fluids & that you're taking vitamin C to reduce the chances of an infection. Monitor your temperature, don't let anyone stick *anything* up there for any reason & so long as your temp is normal, you're fine to wait as long as it takes. I also suggest not wearing underwear, just have a towel under you & change it when it's wet. My labour with ds2 started about 90 hours after my water broke & I know women who've had it take even longer (12+ days & one woman took 21 days).

It'll be ok, honest. Don't let anyone scare you into anything. I got pushed into an induction that didn't work & a completely unnecessary cesarean 20 hours after my water broke with ds1, just because of arbitrary time limits.

s

Hopefully it's moot & you're in labour, but if not, I just wanted to give you some reassurance & practical advice.
